  1. And he was only active for just under three weeks...another fly-by-nighter.
  2. I didn't go that far - Bass Trek was originally equipped with a 'butt-seat' up front...after two seasons I was tired of my butt getting numb...so front seat this year is a standard low-back folding seat, just like the aft seat.
  3. The local guy I follow who's a guide uses FFS and everything on his boat...in the winter, he's all about Vexilar.
  4. You pay to ship the broken rod back to them...so just shipping charge.
  5. As Gimruis said - we had solid overcast all day long...no chance of even seeing Sol, much less Luna in front of it.
  6. Hodgman has a over-the-shoe 'cheapie' hip and chest-waders...I use the hip-waders sometimes when launching/landing. Floppy, loose, but will keep the feet and legs dry...paid $19 to Amazon for mine. Everyone is out of the hip-waders right now...but the chest version is still available for $25 or so https://waders.com/products/hodgman-gamewade™-chest-packable-wader
  7. Maybe you were stooping that day you stopped over...I'm 6'1" I'm still accurate about my relatives though...Father-in-law is 6'10", brother-in-law is 6'8"....tall family as Nora is 5'10" (tall for a woman).
  8. Ya, he's about my height...maybe an inch or two taller....still shorter than my FIL or BIL.
  9. I've used my anchor twice - both times to 'park' while I had lunch.
  10. Dude - it comes in at around 1.2k with a full load including gas and LW tanks filled on the trailer. Advantage of using 1/16" thick aluminum angle for the majority of the framing...it's very light.
  11. Ya, they're very narrow for their length - 14' has only a 38" beam? My 14' Alumacraft has a 64" beam (60" at the transom) and it still rocks a bit when another boat passes at speed.
  12. Quite a few here remember my canoe - great for being inexpensive, maneuverable and able to get into the skinniest water. However, it just wasn't working for me...so, I sold it for about what I had in it and used that money to help fund the Bass Trek Project. Started with this. And after a winter's worth of work, ended up with this. Total cost about $3k including the new TM, but the Sonar was taken from the Canoe before selling. It's only a 14', but doing the same to a 16'-18' wouldn't be much more expensive.
  13. A tough but good day by the water...nice fish there Mrs. Throttle....
  14. Good you got the extinguisher, oar, and spare PFDs - other things that I consider necessary (and I'm sure @A-Jay will back me up on this) Sound device like a whistle or air-horn, med-kit, communications device
  15. Every cork-handled rod I get is immediately treated with U-40 before it even gets a reel put on it.
  16. NOT the type of water I'd take Bass Trek into - now years ago, I DID have to handle that kind of water with the old runabout...but covered bow, full windshield...it was tough, but she handled it like a champ.
  17. That one would have gone home with me - nice catch. Based on the houses behind - I'd say Grays or Wayzata Bay... I'm looking at this coming Wednesday to get Bass Trek wet for the first time this year.
  18. I've been catching bass on comets for 50+ years...an old standby that never fades.
  19. I'd stick to the CA - the others are different frame materials despite everything else being almost identical CR - Resin Frame CC - Composite Frame CG - Graphite Frame CA - Aluminum Frame
  20. Pretty darn close - I can't tell the difference physically...though it is a tad lighter. My Patriarchs are still my lightest reels though.
  21. Here's a 'family portrait' for you. Top row - Bass X, CA-80, Fuego CT 2nd row - Tatula CT, Tatula 100, Patriarch.
  22. Another reason I avoid Evil-Bay as much as possible - out of date stuff being sold as current. You can find gems there - like the new, replacement Alumacraft stickers I got that were an exact match for the originals put on in 1972 as the one's on it were chewed up.
  23. What are they fishing for with 99kg of drag? Beluga?
  24. WD-40 and some heat will loosen them up.
  25. I remember the eclipse of 1979 - was in college and our astronomy class (Bemidji State University) tripped up to Winnipeg, OT to watch it with filtered 8" Celestron telescopes...I was one of the drivers for that. US/Canada border only needed driver's licenses and a verbal declaration at that time.
