I think I bought the line at Academy or possibly Walmart. I know I didn’t buy it from a questionable source like eBay. I’ve looked at several photos of labels online and there are many variations of the label. Some show the diameter in different place. Some don’t show the metric diameter. I saw one on eBay with the same error as mine. I wonder if it’s made in several different factories, each with it’s own label. I wouldn’t think Big Game would be a target for counterfeiting. It’s very cheap already.

Very sorry to hear about Brady. When I was a kid my lab was bitten by a snake. At first she had this slimy drool coming out of her mouth. My mom freaked out and thought she had rabies. My dad was sure it was a snake bite and we took her to the vet. The vet said it was probably a Copperhead. He gave her anti venom and kept her for two days. When we picked her up she was very swollen all over. She looked like a miniature bull. I'm sure every snake's poison has different symptoms.

I'm pretty good at keeping up with what line is on what spool but I like to double check myself when I change spools by measuring the line diameter with a digital caliper. So today I'm checking one of my spinning spools that is suppose to have 10# Big Game on it. My caliper is set to millimeters. I usually think in Imperial units but I'm smart enough to do metric so I leave it on millimeters. I check the line with the caliper and it reads 0.305 mm. I pick up a spool of 10# Big Game and the label says the diameter is 0.21mm. I'm confused. I pick up a spool of 12# Big Game and it's label says the diameter is 0.36 mm. Now I'm really confused. How can 12# Big Game be that much bigger than 10#? Maybe I'm not smart enough to do metric after all. I switch my caliper over to inches and measure the line again. It's 0.012 inches in diameter. This matches what's on the label. Huh? I pull up a unit conversion app on my iPad and covert 0.12 inches to millimeters and it gives me the answer 0.3048. What? I check the Berkley web site and it says that 10# Big Game diameter is 0.30 mm or 0.12 in. So the label's metric diameter is wrong! They've been making this stuff for a long time. They should have the labels right by now. Makes me wonder if I have some counterfeit line. If you have a spool of 10# Big Game, can you check to see what it says the diameter is in millimeters.

I fish different bodies of water to add a little variety to life. I fish the one a mile from my house the most because it’s close. I wouldn’t fish a lake with no bass but I don’t mind a challenge. I tend to favor the ones that have a lot of interesting structure.

I think a few sessions with a marriage and family therapist would help the both of you determine if you should stay together and if so what you need to do to work through your issues. I should know, I’m married to marriage and family therapist. She has molded me into the perfect husband ?. Seriously, if you go that route I recommend you find a therapist that is licensed. That means they have met your state’s standards for training. Any preacher can give you marriage advice but most of them have no training on how to do so.

The best one loss team is Ohio St. The second best one loss team is TCU. They will probably take Alabama over TCU which is wrong. That would mean the best 4 teams according to the computers would be in the playoffs. I’m assuming Georgia and Michigan win.

I agree brother. They should adopt the Tennessee Boy system which is as follows. You have to be in the top 10 in the computer ratings (I’m using Sagarin) to be eligible for the playoffs. The teams with the fewest losses go to the playoffs. When two teams have the same number of losses the computer rating breaks the tie. Under these rules, here are this year’s playoff teams. Georgia Michigan TCU Ohio State Under these rules any losses in this year’s conference championship games could change the order but the same teams would still be in the playoffs regardless. No it’s not fair because there is no fair way to choose who makes the playoffs.

It’s important to understand and constantly keep in mind the shape and width of the sonar beam of each sonar type. It depends on what transducer you have and your settings but the DI beam is almost always wider than 2D so it will show fish that 2D will not show. Seeing fish on 2D that are not on DI is a little more unusual. The 2D beam is cone shaped so it covers more area. If you’re not moving or moving slowly a fish could swim through the 2D beam but not the DI beam. Fish can also be hidden in the brighter bottom echos in different ways on DI and 2D due to the different beam shapes.

I can’t say that I’ve ever seen solid evidence that largemouth are line shy. The truth is I will never know why the thousands if not millions of fish that have refused my bait over the years did so. So I still think about line visibility. If I was 100% certain that all bass are not line shy, then I would use high visibility line for everything. I suspect that I’m not the only person that feels this way.

Look at the 2022 results from the Phoenix Boat series Volunteer division. They had tournaments on Chickamauga, South Houston, Douglas, Cherokee, and Watts Bar. Three anglers weighted bags over 20 pounds in the entire season. All of them were at the Chickamauga tournament. In that same tournament over 1/3 of the boater anglers got skunked. 2021 season was similar, 5 bags over 20 pounds were weighed and all of them were from Chickamauga. That kind of sums up what fishing a well known high pressure lake can be like. You can do well but you’ll have to earn it.
