I think it’s about time they just adopted something like the NFL where there are actual rules on who gets in

Bama should have their Twitter account suspended...

  • Oh you’ll be back…….. been there haha

  • That happens a lot in sports.  If the "best" team won every year, they would crown the regular season champion the winner.  One and done formats allows a team to get hot at the right time. I don

I agree brother.   They should adopt the Tennessee Boy system which is as follows.

You have to be in the top 10 in the computer ratings (I’m using Sagarin)  to be eligible for the playoffs.  The teams with the fewest losses go to the playoffs.  When two teams have the same number of losses the computer rating breaks the tie.  Under these rules,  here are this year’s playoff teams.

Georgia

Michigan

TCU

Ohio State

Under these rules any losses in this year’s conference championship games could change the order but the same teams would still be in the playoffs regardless.

No it’s not fair because there is no fair way to choose who makes the playoffs.

Aren't they expanding the college football playoff to 8 teams in the future?  I thought I heard that a while ago.  Its going to be a bracket style format where its 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, etc.

I believe it goes to 12 teams in 2024

I think they are afraid to have a playoff without Alabama in it.

That's an improvement over 4 if you ask me.  There always seems to be a couple teams that feel like they got shafted.

I think they should can about half the bowl games too.  Being .500 or better is a pretty weak criteria for qualification.  I know its purely for marketing and monetary reasons to have some of them.

Yes 12 teams for 2024-2025 season. The top 4 teams will get byes into the quarterfinals.

Those crooked %#+*^’s  will slip Bama in there even though they have one more loss than OSU. Stupid

TN doesn’t deserve in the playoff but we beat Alabama and destroyed the other team that beat Alabama, no way they should be ranked ahead of TN

again: wouldn’t it be novel to have a set of rules by which teams qualified. Oh maybe something like …… pro football or basketball (or baseball or hockey). We are paying players now, it’s ok to be like the pros

I read earlier this week they gave Ohio St an 80% chance of making the playoffs. Not sure how those odds could be that high. ?

While the results are the results, Tennessee isn’t the same without Hooker at QB. And that does get factored into the things by the committee.

I'm well aware of the Nick Saben legacy but there's absolutely no way does Bama hop Ohio State with 2 losses.

A USC loss doesn't mean an Alabama win. ?

Anyone but ‘Bama.

If Alabama gets in, they will win it all.

Now if TCU loses to Kstate I could easily see.

1. Georgia

2. Michigan

3. Ohio State

4. Alabama????

Say it isn't so.

Ok then go common opponent, Vanderbilt. Vols won 56-0 with backup quarterback , Bama won 55-3. Results are what rankings should be based on, but they aren’t. There is literally no merit based argument to have Bama ahead of TN

I do enjoy that Bama has to play the loser card to politic their way in, that’s a welcome change

That’s not a very good metric considering they played one common opponent without Hooker and they were both drubbings. And if you think Tenn. beats Bama with Hendon then I’d say you’re nuts…or maybe I’m the nuts one.

I’m not advocating for Bama to get in, cause they don’t deserve to be. I’m getting tired of the ‘they have two losses too top 10 teams on the final play’ argument. They also have two win to bad teams on the last play or last drive I don’t remember which. Tennesse has be en very impressive this year and if the game with Georgia was a better game they probably have a chance of getting in.

On another note. Ohio state doesn’t deserve a spot either. Their resume with that loss to Michigan at home is awful. If TCU loses today you might as well just have Mich. and Georgia play right now.

There is no metric, logical or not, that puts Bama ahead of TN. Bama’s best victory is vs texas

buckeyes are the Best one loss team going currently

Man, this is what I like about the college format. We all get to argue for our favorite teams!

Reminds me of figure skating. Why even bother with the competition, just let a judge decide

And they won largely  because of that terrible call by the refs on that endzone play…

They are the only team that could possibly qualify for the playoff by losing to their rivals and not beating any good conference teams

True about Bama!

so the 12 team playoff will be fun, but I don’t think you will get the 2 best teams playing in the championship. You might some years, but every year seems like a stretch. Maybe that’s the some of the point. You get the hottest teams playing each other.
