  1. Wind, current, size of the bait, and my level of patience determine how much weight I need this time of year. When the current is taking your bait in one direction and the wind is taking the boat in the opposite direction it can be difficult. I typically use the lightest weight that will work. Sometimes that’s 1/8 oz and sometimes it’s 3/4 oz.
  2. Vicks Vaperrub is powerful stuff and can be used for a lot of things. Rub some on a fishing rod and it will increase sensitivity. ?
  3. @A-Jay posted pictures of some of his baits from Paul Krew a while back and I liked the way the looked. I ordered some and have not been disappointed.
  4. I watched the videos when Catt posted them and have continued to follow the research. It is very interesting. I don't think it really tells us anything that biologist have not already tried to tell us. People have been tracking bass for decades. John Hope's study showed that big bass are very skittish and hard to catch most of the time. We anglers want to make bass behavior simple. We want it boiled down to simple rules. I'm no different. I am constantly trying to remind myself that the evidence shows that bass behavior is complicated and it varies by fishery and by fish. Someone posted a quote from Jacob Wheeler a few days ago where he said that FFS is showing us that everything we know about bass behavior is wrong. I think tracking studies have been trying to tell us that for a long time. When you're on the water and see if for yourself on your fish finder it's much easier to believe. Still I'm a sucker for the latest simple approach that explains it all and will tell me where the fish are every time.
  5. I agree it is a great interview. Thanks for posting it.
  6. I’m no lawyer but granting them a non exclusive license means that you maintain your rights including the right to license the image to others. It just prevents you from being able to hold them accountable for how the image gets used. Their lawyers worded it to cover them in every imaginable circumstance. If it’s a picture of a world record or a picture of bigfoot then I would think twice about posting it to their site but other than that I don’t think they’re not gonna make a lot of money selling photos I made with my phone.
  7. I'm planning on being there. You're one fish over the limit.
  8. “Fly fishing isn’t about the gear you use. It’s about family. It’s about traditions. It’s about nature, and the places you experience, and the people you meet along the way.” The same could be said about bass fishing…or not. Everyone is free to enjoy fishing the way they choose. If being into the gear is how you define “elitist” then a high percentage of fly fishermen and bass fishermen are “elitist”. There are a lot of people on this site that are very much into the gear. What labels you put on a sport or the people that enjoy it is irrelevant but maybe interesting to debate on a cold winter day. ?
  9. I’ve been out with a friend who had one. We didn’t jump any logs but did run in water that was about 2 inches deep.
  10. I don’t wear cologne but I do wash regularly and I even use soap.?

  13. Yeah. Like this
  14. I was a big fan. Before Rod Stewart made it big he was the lead singer in the Jeff Beck Group. They got back together in 1985 to record this classic. https://youtu.be/yC_j_dzkaVE
  15. IP66 should be fine unless you sink your boat. At that point it probably doesn't matter if your fuses are dry.
  16. I wouldn't even put humans in the top ten. Have you watched the news lately?

  18. It is wrong (and possibly illegal) to introduce fish into a body of water that you do not own. Shad in a small pond can be very detrimental. You can also introduce disease. Many fisheries have been harmed and even destroyed by well meaning anglers that didn’t know what they were doing.
  19. I’ve heard of guys dropping crawfish through a PVC pipe at the same location over time to train the fish that the pipe means free crawfish. Then on tournament day they drop the tube and then drop crawfish lures around the tube. I’ve never known anyone who tried this but I’ve heard rumors. Reminds me of a guy that joined our bass club in the 90s. He told everyone at the meeting that he intended to drop a cage of crawfish before the tournament to attract fish. There was nothing in our rules preventing it so no one objected. He showed up at the tournament weight in with no fish and we never saw him again after that.
  20. Clearly Uga hurt Georgia in the Ohio State game. They should leave him home more often.
  21. I would say my home is stage 4. On a really tough day I might revert to stage 1. I occasionally find myself in stage 2 but that gets old after a couple of hours. I’m always ready to switch to stage 3. I can’t say that stage 5 interest me very much.
  22. That is some seriously deep structure.
  23. I’m watching on my iPad. The game seems closer on a tiny screen?.
  24. MY CABLE IS OUT !!!!!!!
  25. I did something today that I've been planning to do for a long time and it was very easy. I froze my credit with the three credit reporting agencies in the US. I was able to do it online quickly and easily. It didn't cost anything and I can unfreeze it if necessary. No one should be able to check my credit now so no one (including me) should be able open new credit in my name. Has anyone else done this? Seems like a no brainer to me unless you're in the process of taking out a new loan.
