Koz
Has anyone heard of this or tried it before? I'm not advocating, just curious.

AlabamaSpothunter
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the second very aggressive fish that comes in is a SM correct? Wonder how long fish hold on them like that......might be exposing a cheating method at least on the local level 🤣
Super User WRB Posted January 11 Super User Share Posted January 11 Looks like the jar of Minnows and a gold fish was put into a bass bed! Yes the 1st bass USA Smallmouth the 2nd a Largemouth. Some well known trophy bass anglers put a basket of live crawdads attached to the anchor rope to cum in bass, old trick illegal in California lakes. Changes the way I interpret the results dramatically as well.
Super User slonezp Posted January 11 Super User Share Posted January 11 Anyone who has ever had a predator fish in an aquarium will answer... The predator will always be a predator. They will not always consume the prey. I used to have cichlids. They will kill fish for the sake of killing them. They will eat fish if they are hungry.
Super User WRB Posted January 11 Super User Share Posted January 11 The majority of bass anglers are honest but as Ray Scott recognized a few cheat. Ray created the blind draw tournament to reduce cheating. Trophy bass anglers are not a high % of bass anglers but a few cheat as Mike Long proved in spades. It amazes honest folks when someone cheats because we don’t think that way. Tom
Super User gulfcaptain Posted January 11 Super User Share Posted January 11 So looks like they are interested in the school of bait, they're grouped up huddled together as well. The minnow and goldfish on the hook are back hooked, not really swimming and not looking natural at all. Odds are the feed instinct takes over when theres a group of food opposed to a struggling bait fish that can't swim and doesn't look natural
PondProwler9000
Very interesting. I would have loved to see what would have happen if dropped a few in there, unhooked
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted January 11 Global Moderator Share Posted January 11 Our neighbors had a minnow bucket tied to their dock 24/7, I caught a lot of LM but burning a rattle trap by the bucket as a youngster
T-Billy
The jar must be made of fluorocarbon since the bass aren't scared off by it. The smallmouth also struck the end with the red lid first. I think @A-Jay might be on to something with that red front treble hook. 😉 Kidding aside, Cool video. Thanks for posting. 1

Maybe we should all start throwing an A-rig a lot more.

Super User Deleted account Posted January 11 Super User Share Posted January 11 Not exactly that, or for bass, but it's called live chumming, works great and no jar required.
Super User Tennessee Boy Posted January 11 Super User Share Posted January 11 I’ve heard of guys dropping crawfish through a PVC pipe at the same location over time to train the fish that the pipe means free crawfish. Then on tournament day they drop the tube and then drop crawfish lures around the tube. I’ve never known anyone who tried this but I’ve heard rumors. Reminds me of a guy that joined our bass club in the 90s. He told everyone at the meeting that he intended to drop a cage of crawfish before the tournament to attract fish. There was nothing in our rules preventing it so no one objected. He showed up at the tournament weight in with no fish and we never saw him again after that.

Definitely a bed, you can see the fry in the right of the frame. I didn't listen to the audio, but this has to be one of the sillier things I've seen. I proves nothing and won't help you catch. 1
