  1. @new2BC4bass I am very sorry for your loss.
  2. A Texas rigged Trick worm would be my 1st choice. But if you have Trick worms you can do a wacky rig also. The Trick worm has more options available than anything else I know of.
  3. Red craw or Delta Red works for me on square bills. I just got a jerkbait that is a orange red color but I don't have any catches on it yet. The merthiolate or pink trick worms are hot baits till summer.
  4. @Catt's list is just about right for me also except for the Heddon products I only remember a torpedo. And I had a rapala minnow. I still have most of those things today. They still get bit.
  5. On YouTube there is a channel "The Old Fisherman" . He has been using FFS and catching white bass, large mouth, striped bass, Catfish and Crappie. Using jigs, spoons and live bait. His name is Steve Comalander. Lake Murray and Lake Monticello is the locations of his videos. He used to find these fish with 2D sonar. He is one that had the skills before he got the tool.
  6. Impressive collection you have here.
  7. The live bait thing works good. But it is time to throw a big size jig. The jig will bring the bigger fish in and you can gauge the average size and estimate if they have a big fish I sometimes refer to as Gertrude . Time and some good work with the jig will give you a great size estimate for what is there
  8. Absolutely I don't go without them
  9. Yea I am good with all that except the Gators. Places that I can fish don't have them. But 25 minutes south they got some. Absolutely not as many as in the glades but they got their spaces and I have mine.
  10. I haven't caught a fish on a Texas rig yet this year. However I have caught fish in every calendar month. All my catches have been off of a treble hook bait. Jerk baits and my red chili square bill so far. But things are not always the same everywhere all the time. Keep a open mind and try different things in places you believe that fish are in the area.
  11. I have tried a lot of hooks the past few years and I for the most part use 2 brands VMC and Owner. I really haven't wanted to change after that. I am of the persuasion that if it works don't mess with it unless there is a reason.
  12. Ffs the way that has been used at Toledo bend needs to be renamed P.E.E ( performance enhanced electronics) the power output on those saltwater sensor units will run the fish off very fast and all the extra heavy bags of fish will come back down to normal. The A rig had its time and a lot of older lures also. What we don't know is how the Spawn numbers are effected. In the case of Crappie fishing the number to keep per person should be adjusted now because most of them are released to the grease. And they are being harvested greatly with this new enhancements.
  13. Exactly !!! Great Catch!! There has been many a day when the birds have shown me a place to fish. Sometimes they catch the biggest fish of the day!!
  14. Great video!!! You are spot on sir. Back when I was young my dad and my uncle taught us this as we learned to drive the boat. Everyone who wants to operate a boat should have to see this video. I am so thankful for the efforts you put into keeping people safe and informed.
  15. I don't know much about how line is made or what it is made of but I have been using Kastking Tri-polomar and Kastking Destron lines they are both a copolymer. The Tri- Palomar doesn't float like mono. It is thinner if you look at it's rated lb test but I can say that it handles very well for me.
  16. Just asking ,6th Sense Provoke 106 ? How does it compare to the vision 110
  17. Nice catches ! Please tell us about the jerkbait in the last picture the bait monkey says I need one like that. Lol
  18. For most everyone out here there are ups and downs. @Zcoker is spot on about not just letting your guard down. 3 fish in January and 3 fish in the beginning of February and you could say to yourself "sit out till the weather gets better." But then you would miss out on that next time when you catch a 5lber and as many fish as you have caught all year in a hour and a half. Every time you get to go is a opportunity.
  19. I found the Bizz Baits Dizzy Diamond worms float and have a scent added to them also. They sell craw baits also that the flapping arms float too.
  20. This is the real deal where I fish. Now when we get to pre spawn I get more bites with a suspending jerkbait. The red baits will still catch but not as strongly. When spawn is almost over that red craw color is the best thing again 20 yards away from the spawn beds. And all through the center of the pond. Then it just stops and I change up to something else to get bit.
  21. Wow most of the time when I get skunked I tell people that I couldn't even catch a cold lol. @thediscochef hope you feel better
  22. Looks good. Good luck 🤞
  23. Don't think that worm is just for the bigs. I once thought so too. I caught a 1.5 on that kind of worm and a 6 in the same day. You live in the south I do too. I catch all sizes of bass on a 8 and 10 inch worms on any given day.
  24. Someone told me a long while back a saying, Big bait =big fish. Small bait=all fish.
  25. I agree . The lessons that you learn on the struggle bus are the ones that bring insight and personal growth. People today just want to see the flowers but they don't see the gardener.
