  1. One question How many toothpicks can one of those musky make out of it. I don't have those around I think. But a bowfin can destroy a old devil's horse with one attempt

Sorry for your loss that always is a hard one to go through prayers sent
  3. Mighty fine swim bait there you think. I bet it will be a super fish catcher? Lol. I would have to have scuba gear with me in case of a snag. But one question.... What if a fish broke it off during a retrive. I think I will stay with 15.00 jerkbaits. IMHO
  4. Here where I live the question would now be not why but when and /or who. We just don't let it be easy to take. It was not like that when I was young. My brother lost 3 4-wheelers out of his back yard. Padlocks and chains did not work.
  5. Tie them scurvy dogs to the yard iron!! LoL. I have been around some rough dudes that would fish out someone's spots before the time to fish the tournament and they collected buoys but not destroy the spot by pulling up the brush piles and such. Wow
  6. I agree that is the key. Also you have to keep your wife included in the time given to your hobbies. It is give and take and I am included in her hobbies also. Just the offer to go get up before dawn to fish is inclusive enough.
  7. I didn't go with super clear but Charlie Brewer sells a color called Monkey Milk that works pretty good in cooler clear water. I used it with a pink or purple headed jig.
  8. I have my favorites junebug, grape, red shad, plum. I have caught fish with all of the basic colors at some point in time. I have found that it varies from pond to pond and lake to lake. If there are fish around where I am at I believe that a plastic worm or a craw bait will put the fish in the livewell. Dark colors for low light and water visibility. And brighter and clearer colors for sunny days and high visibility.
  9. NC has been quoted that crappie populations are down. That is what I have seen so far that can be quoted. I believe you will see more as we go forward. Time always paints a true and perfect picture. It is not the top level pro fishermen that I worry about most will catch and release. But some of the wannabe pros with resources are the ones in question. But if the baitfish populations fall, the size and numbers of bass can be effected. IMHO. I hope that I am wrong. That is a high price to compete IMHO.
  10. I respect everyone's opinion. Somebody said that the genie is out of the bottle. I think that time has passed by a while back. We are seeing the fruits of FFS already fish populations are starting to shrink. People are saying a ban is needed. My humble opinion is that nobody wins now. There are many anglers and professional fishermen that have invested a whole lot of coin on FFS just to try to compete. What happens to all that investment if a ban occurs? Lure manufacturers will loose in the short also.
  11. I broke a expensive rod moving my hand up too far. A good net saves me money.
  12. This is the same for me. I have not caught any with that or the magnum u-vive craw. The original u-vive and the super speed craw are favorites for me. The baby brush hog is a favorite also.
  13. I have been using a elaztech diesel minnow for a swimbait and a trailer. A drop of super glue and it will last for many catches. I went to this because I had a lot of trails bitten off.
  14. Texas rigged with the lightest weight possible is 1st up. Then the wacky rig is #2 and is almost always weightless. That is where it mostly all starts.

Plum and redbug are go-to colors for me summer and fall. Junebug is still a killer color too IMHO . Merthiolate and pink worms will work here too. But they get used in early spring and summer mostly. If I fish very clear water the watermelon/red color works well also.
  16. The Kastking Royal legend 5.2 to 1 reel is a solid choice in a budget reel. But I would look at the Piscifun Flame. It has the braid ready spool and the same specs as most of the other reels that have been mentioned.
  17. Nice catches!! Very nice. I had been sitting pretty still away from that bait monkey but here we go again. I bought 2 bags to try. Thanks for the information !
  18. Zoom products are on my A list most of the time for the mag II and the trick worm. I use a lot of zoom finesse worms also. Shaky head,Neko rig goes to Dizzy Diamond. Old monster and rage tail space monkey and Rage craw get used too. I have a stockpile of pit boss to use too.
  19. Happy birthday Mr.Tom you are so very knowledgeable sometimes you help and you don't ever know it because we get into a situation that was discussed and remember what you taught long after that thread was left behind on the forum.
  20. Bizz Baits Dizzy Diamond worm was my answer. Though the toothpick looks really simple. The Dizzy Diamond floats up and it comes strongly scented so all I have to do is put it on the hook and go.
  21. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Mustad_Wacky_O-Ring_Replacement_Pack_25pk/descpage-MWO.html I haven't ever used a piece of silicone straw before. But mustad sells their wacky rings 25 for 4.50 to 5.00 and they fit a standard wacky ring tool. The rings will last pretty good also. Once I found these I don't use anything else .
  22. 6.3to 1 is very good middle of the road speed. A little weed to slow down and a little crack to speed up. LOL!!!
  23. Lightning is a nogo. However rain? No problem, the fish are already wet. I stay and fish.
  24. So many baits to think of ?? But junebug, redbug, watermelon red or orange make up most of the baits I use. The KVD Ocho and the Yum spine craw are the big players last month or so.
  25. Take ten yards of line off the spool from the ones that are jamming. There is also a plastic lip on the top edge of the spool sometimes you can find a nick that makes issues also. 1/8 to 1/4 inch gap from the edge of the spool is a full spool.
