  1. Were you aware of these regulation and restrictions before you moved in? I fish a couple of no gas engine lakes also and im allowed to use my boat as long as the big motor is trimmed Out of the the water. I talked to the warden and he said I could start the big engine long enough to put the boat back on the trailer. You might want to ask the appropriate person is this is allowed at your lake.
  2. Good for you getting in shape. Hope everything works out for you. I don’t have to be on a diet to eat Gai lan. It’s my favorite.
  3. Announcing it the night before isn’t the right thing to do,’especially since he fished it. IMO you made the right decision to not fish anymore. His integrity would always be in doubt in my mind.
  4. I use theses heads for 2 1/2”-5” paddle tails. The lake I fish doesn’t have many snags, thus the exposed hook. I’ll lose the head and the bait will get torn up before it slides down the hook. Gave some to a couple of friends and they’re using them now
  5. The tags said to bring or send them to a Fish&Game office. They just asked the date we caught them. Doesn’t make sense to me they didn’t want more info
  6. Guys here are finding that the bigger fish are ignoring the smaller baits, like the Keitechs, they’re having success using 5”-6” paddles tail swim baits with a 3/8 oz head. Anything lighter and the bait rises too fast on a slow retrieve. They’re using heads with a 6/0 hook
  7. Years ago Fish & Game tagged a bunch of bass for a survey. One day I found a school of bass that most of them had tags on them. The tags were worth $10-$20. We were tossing the fish. A o without removing the tags until we started catching fis with tags that were $75-$100. Both of us ended up with 5-6 tags. Brought the tags to the Fish & Game office and they thanked us for turning them in and sent us checks. A good day on the lake
  8. There’s a chance any bill is going to break when it hits rocks. Rocks do more damage than heat. Heat shouldn’t be responsible as it only takes about 10 seconds on the low setting to heat set the paint
  9. I use the ones poured with Do It molds. You can mix/match the weights and hooks. Don’t paint them as they are bright silver.
  10. I’m sure every glide bait manufacturer has tested them with feathered trebles. Not having any commercially made Should give you an idea of their results
  11. i don’t leave fish to find fish. If they’re biting I’m staying. There are no secret spots on a lake. If you’re spot is that good,, others have found it too.
  12. I’ve been doing something similar since the early 70’s, using a dart head and a 5 inch grub. This method has caught a lot of fish
  13. FLW was here at Lake Shasta one winter. It was snowing and several anglers said they caught fish on toowater. They were catching spots
  14. Why get yourself all worked up over this? Call the cc bank and ask for a refund. Let them deal with Fenwick. Or, keep banging your head against the wall and try to resolve it yourself. Seems like an easy choice for me. YMMV
  15. I suggest buying them if you can find something close to the color you want. Custom painted baits can cost 2-3 times a factory bait, depending on what has to be done.
  16. I use the Gamakatsu micro split ring pliers. I’ve opened hundreds of #1 and #2 splits rings with no problems. Got them from Amazon
  17. See if you can reset it
  18. No need to put baits in the shelf for me. I don’t fish the same spots often enough for the fish to get used to what I’m using. If the bite stops at one spot I’ll find another one. It’s probably 3-4 weeks before I fish it again. The lake is loaded with fish so I don’t have to rely on a few spots
  19. I’m not a fan of swim jigs. Underspins catch a lot of fish for me. My friends and I use Keitech swim baits on them. Prices vary, remember the more expensive ones are using better quality components. I’ve tried cheap ones where I had to swap out the cheap swivel because the blade had a hard time turning.
  20. When I fish alone, I ALWAYS let someone know which ramp I’m launching at and what time I expect to be home. I also leave a card on the dash with my name and a contact number other than mine.
  21. I was just at Sportsmans Warehouse, they have the Cuda scissors for $4.29
  22. Fall, the jet skiers and the vacation people are gone and the water starts to cool down and the top water bite is incredible. You can fish top water all day. Another plus is you don’t loose any tackle
  23. Check out the Cuda scissors on Amazon. They’re super sharp and easily cut braid, even when it’s limp. Around $10 so it’s not a big deal if you lose one.
  24. Probably nothing you could have done. With that much bait, the chances were slim they would even see your lure
  25. My friends and I swapped out the treble hooks on Panther Martins for inline hooks. The single hooks increased out hook up ration and it’s a lot harder for fish to toss the small treble.
