3" swimbait with underspin
There’s a big range of prices for Underspins. The cheaper ones will have inferior components. Ball bearing swivels are wxpensive. Quality blades are expensive. The swivel can make a big difference in the way the blade spins/ doesn’t spins. I use standard swivels and inexpensive blades and catch just as many fish S my friends who are using the premium ones.

Do/should guides actually fish when you pay for a guided fishing trip?
This subject should never come up on the water. If you’re going to hire a guide, talk to him/her beforehand to let them know what you expect. If they insist infishing and that’s not what you want,’find another guide. You’re the one paying, get what you pay for

Can you ID this soft plastic worm?
I agree with Tom, it looks like a French fry. It could be a hand pour. Handpours have a flat side. I pour a French fry that’s close to the bait in the picture

what should I have done?
Everyone is going to kill a fish sooner or later,‘whether they know it or not. Just because the fish swims away doesn’t mean it’s going to be ok. If you absolutely want to make sure you don’t kill a fish, you’ll probably have to stop fishing

Tire rot
The boat isn’t the problem. Everything that was in the boat will be gone when you get back

Tire rot
Whats Not expensive these days. Don’t buy the cheapest tires. They are the only thing getting you to and from the lake. If you don’t already have one, get a spare too. The last thing you want to do is leave your boat on the side of the road while you get a tire repaired

Buying Prescription Sunglasses Online????...Yea or Nay??
Check with your local Costco. I don’t wear glasses but a couple of friends get their prescription sunglasses from Costco. Both said they were the best price. Can’t hurt to check before you buy elsewhere

Stevia
My dr and cardiologist both wanted me To lose weight. No special diet. I stayed away from salt and sugar. Stopped the in between meal snacks. I’m drinking Minute Maid No sugar juice. The dr said I could eat normally, just cut back on portions. I’m eating less than half of what I used to eat. I’ve been doing this for a couple of months and now I’m not as hungry or need to eat as much as I did. I started at 248 and this morning I weighed 215. It was hard at first but I got used to it after about a week. No need to spend money on diets or special food.

A little advice.
I’d be fishing a weightless Texas rigged fluke

Perfect jig rod length???
It’s hard to pick a rod from a forum. Go to the store and handle a few of them. You’ll find the one that feels right

COVID
COVID is starting to rear its ugly head again in the Southern California and Arizona areas. The new COVID boosters should be at your local pharmacies. Everyone get your shot and be safe

When you see bass hitting the surface but they won't bite....
This happens a lot on my local lake as there are tons of shad. Guys throw everything in the boat and they get ignored. I’ve found something that works and all my friends are using too. I throw a 2” hand poured ribbed swim bait on a 1/32 oz head with a 2/0 hook, using 4# line. I don’t want a tiny hook as I’ve caught numerous fish over 4 pounds with this method. I cast out and just wait. The bait falls really slow and the bass/trout think it’s an injured shad. The key is to do nothing. Watch your line for the bites. My friends were skeptical until they tried it

Sunglass lens color
I wear yellow at first light,’to give more contrast to see anything that might be in the water. I switch to mirror blue during the day

Current Favorite Neko Rig Worm ?

Bigger bass displaced?
Chances are the bigger spots haven’t been displaced but are now far outnumbered by the smaller, more aggressive juveniles. The bigger fish don’t get the chance to see your bait,’much less inhale it. This has happened many times over the years here on Lake Shasta. Two of us can catch 50-60 fish and not one of them is over 12”. One way to catch bigger fish is to use bigger baits. Granted, the smaller fish will still play with the 9”-12” worms, 1 ounce jigs and big creature baits but they’ll also leave them alone long enough for the bigger fish to bite. This is not the time for finesse fishing.

Holy crap watch this!
Fish and Game plants rai is trout I. Some of the lakes in California. When they do, the cormorants are there, eating a lot of them. Most oeoole hate the cormorants but there’s not much that can be done as they are protected

Log/branch in the water - What is the correct protocol for a hazard like this ?
You did your good deed for the day. You can’t be the eyes for every boat out there. People need to pay careful attention when operating watercraft

Went out for a chicken sandwich…
The way food prices are increasing, it won’t be long before you’re going to be paying that much without getting the tackle. California passed a law, fast food workers are now making $20/hr. A small bag of fries at MacDonald’s is $5.

$1,100 Swimbait!?!
The $1000 bait is carved in wood. The plastic version is $499

Replacing treble hooks with singles on whopper plopper - anyone done this?
Check online for a treble to inline book conversion chart. Going by the chart, you might think the online book is too big. It isn’t. The gap between the inline hook should match the gap between any two of the trebles hook points
