I don’t know what you are fishing. I make my own tube heads. I use 1/8 oz for depths to 15’, 1/4 for up to 30’ and 3/8 when I want to go really deep. All of mine have a 4/0 hook.

The 50s have been hot down here lately.

Today’s electronics draw a lot of juice. I experienced the same problem that you described when I had Lowrance units. I now have Humminbird units and the problem did not go away. I tried several different cranking batteries and it still existed. I spent several hundred dollars at boat shops trying to get to the bottom of this issue. I wound up getting a house battery for the electronics. It has been working fine for three years.

A few years ago I bought this rod from the original owners of Ark Rods. I made it my shaky rod and had good success with it. Two years ago the guy who does my rod repair and alterations talked me into letting him build me a custom rod. I like it so much better than the Ark Rod that I have nearly quit using it. Recently a local guy offered a special on custom rods so I am having him build me an identical one. It is almost finished so I should have 2 great shaky rods and one that needs some work. I used it the other day cranking and it was okay, however, I don’t crank a lot. My question for those of you who have similar rods how are you using them?

When I was thinking about one what I found out was like stated they are best on V hulled boats. Even the salesman said I wouldn’t be happy with on on my Z20 trailer. That being said, I never hook up the bow strap until I am in the parking lot. I also unhook it in the parking lot. I’ve never had a boat slip on the trailer, coming or going.

I assume that Navionics is the card in question. You should be able to go to the web site for the type of sd card that you want. You should be able to find the correct region and get a lake list to look at.

I use small hooks when fishing grubs and Ned. I’ve caught several over 5# and had no problems. I set the hook like every fish is going to be a good one with a tough jaw.

Yes it is. I live about 10 miles from there. I go there a lot even though I don’t buy much. I mostly buy stuff at the catalog outlet which is next door. They have super close outs on boots, shoes, and clothing. I bought 4 St. Croix Avid rods ( new, not refurbished ) for $80 each once and a $150 pair of boots for $36.

It is not fun. I’ve been in three of them.

I don’t use carpet cleaners in my boat. I have a dedicated shop vac that is for wet vacuuming only. I keep the boat vacuumed for dirt, etc and at least monthly I wet down my boat carpet one section at a time, brush the carpet then use the wet vac., then I turn on the shop fan and go away. Do not use a pressure washer on your carpet. You could rip a seam loose.

I only am interested in what is going on in my region of the country. I pay no attention to someone who is hawking a product. Much of it doesn’t work around here. Our lakes are highland with lots of bluffs and rocks with some standing timber and no vegetation.

This has the makings of a good year for us. We fenced off about 20 acres for wildlife and put in a food plot. The turkey population has exploded. Groups as large as 50 birds are being seen. Season is still a ways off. Good luck to you and your friend.

Time on the water will show you which are productive at what time of the year. There are lots of bluffs on the lakes that I fish. Some are good in the winter and others in the summer. There are also some that have never given me a fish.

T rigging the line is inside the plastic. I’ve never had a problem with it.

To me A is EWG Ned. B is a weedless Ned. C is a shaky head. D no clue.

I use 6# Yozuri hybrid with my Ned setup and 12# fluorocarbon with the others.

I ordered some stuff from Midway USA. It is less than 200 miles away. It took 5 days to get here.
