  1. Just like Jimmy houston always said, water temps below 58* is when the bite slows down. We're well below that but heading out Thursday for an unseasonably high of 60* and from past experience.....don't have high expectations because water temps are much more stubborn and less likely to be influenced by 1 warm day. Having fun however carries some merit. Lol
  2. We're taking my buddies new bass boat out this Thursday, sunny and in the 50's. My catch ratio for winter bass fishing is NOT good. It's been cold here in the mountains so expecting water temps in low 40's. Only throwing 3 baits......Jerkbaits, spinnerbaits and jigs.

Hope your right, was born in GA but Tide has a way of playing up to it's competition.

What's gonna suck is GA won't fall out of top 4 if they lose to Tide , watch. Think CFP is set with top 4. Imo Cinci likely not losing at home against Houston. It's almost like they force feed Alabama every year but not dismissing what Saban has done there.
  5. Great read and a massive fish. First thing I thought of was " river monsters ".
  6. I've used snaps in the past but after having one actually walk itself out of a knot during a fight, quit using them. Certainly a rare event but it did happen......snap and spinnerbait gone while knot still intact. I'm never in a hurry these days and simply retie.
  7. When you and your teeth don't sleep together. When you're back goes out but you stay home. You're idea of weight lifting is standing up. Your address book has mostly names that start with DR.
  8. Sounds like a caring father, good for you. Both of my daughters tested positive without any symptoms. He'll be kicking the leather of a soccer ball very soon.
  9. When I was younger I really enjoyed the 4 seasons but now find winter to be quite boring. Fortunately no longer have to drive 80 miles in inclement weather, retired. My best friend for over 40 years bought a new bass boat so if we can get a few nice winter days, we'll launch. Other than that, I'll hit the home gym and help my brother at his sawmill on Saturdays and hope for an early spring.
  10. Happy Thanksgiving ? 10 of us for lunch then football or sit in a treestand.
  11. Problem is teens can go drastically one way or the other. I happened to be other with drunkenness and many driving tickets and continued this behavior late into my twenties. Had 2 beautiful daughters and one was a saint and the other chose the path of destruction as I did. The oldest was a drug addict and aged the wife and I 10 fold but persevered and all is good. About all you can do is hope and pray. Oh did you say treestand? Got this one yesterday.
  12. When you're wife has to clip your toenails. When you snore through your Cpap. When you no longer have birthday parties. When morning wood is a trip to the woodstove. When you buy buy reader glasses by the bushel. When you skip the names of personal friends and say " hey buddy " because you forgot their name. The list goes on.
  13. Been bass fishing for many years and not seen sores quite like that.
  14. Well at 61 and still working out, some regression has creeped in. My brother and I have been mtnbiking for 30+ years and I finally had to resort to an E-mtnbike to keep up. To my defense and not making excuses, he's 57 and stands 5 ft 9 145lbs and is a roofer and a logger to give you an idea of his physical condition. He looks like a more southern version of AJ. Lol Another major component to staying fit is motivation, a must have. Cheers
  15. Been an off year compared to Last year which was my best. This year, especially late, the wife out of nowhere wants to fish and can be high maintenance in a boat. Had to sell my 1-man and purchase a 2-man to accommodate. Had to reinvent my patience and let her cast into the trees but at the end of the day......feel blessed.
  16. Yeah, that defense is looking good but I'd take Bucs over Pat's in SB. Lol
  17. Strange season with Buffalo getting blown out, KC now has a smothering defense. Idk I'll say it again.....I'm betting Brady. Lol
  18. King James and NASB has a daily impact.
  19. Oh wow, isn't there many competitive jobs out there? Why aren't they being filled?......curious.
  20. Wife is also a fish lover, to the point it has become annoying simply because she wants me to keep every fish caught, salt or fresh. This past spring while fishing in the wind I let a nice 3lb LM swallow the hook, to the demise of fish. Took it back to camp and wife seasoned and cooked on open fire and it was outstanding. That tasty bass triggered a boat purchase. Sold my single man fishing kayak and bought a 2-man boat so the wife could fish now when we camp on the lakes. And guess what ? She keeps every single fish she catches that's legal.
  21. Thanks for the video. Definitely shows a lack of work ethic and disrespectful to boot. As others have mentioned, have not experienced that type of behavior locally. What we do experience which can be irritating is that the delivery agency's will drop off packages at the wife's office rather than drive up the mountain and deliver to proper address. They've become accustomed to the the last name on package and will simply take a short cut and drop at her office rather than take the trip up to our residence. Not that big of a deal except when the wife can't lift a heavy item, I have to drive to her office and take it apon myself to receive item. Complaints have done nothing.
  22. You could always hit Burnsville or Stonewall if Summersville feels to risky. Good luck and have fun.
  23. Not sure about it's toxicity but did try it. It was like an aphrodisiac and sent the the mice into a romantic frenzy, little ones everywhere.
  24. I have an outside wood boiler and my brother runs a sawmill.....life is good. Lol
  25. Most of the lakes that I've fished in WV have very long ramps to account for drought which may buy you some time. Now here's a little debbie downer for ya'. The lakes that I've fished that were being lowered for maintenance had a side effect on the fish.....lockjaw.
