  1. There may have been other factors involved but last week I fished a lake that received a very cold rain after a warm sunny day and the bite was way off. Gizzard shad were actually floating on the surface in the shallows. I'm sure it could be quite opposite in the summertime.
  2. I prefer casting gear for jerkbaits, it lays the bait in the water better without line wrap. Flouro leader is a must. Imo With braid to leader, I use a 6'10 med moderate but jerkbaits hang a fish quite well.
  3. When I had a fishing kayak I carried only 3 rods 1 standing up behind, 1 standing up beside me on non casting side and the 1 catching fish in my hand. I should mention it was a foot controlled trolling motor.

Now ! Does Terro make something for stinkbugs ❓

    Terro has always worked here.
  6. Lol...... comments. 5.5 would be very close and in this neck of the woods, a VERY nice bass.
  7. I've also heard that stable weather conditions several days in a row can contribute to consistent patterns. Like many have posted, I have pretermimed days set aside each week to fish and not much will disrupt that....... except wind.
  8. I know drastic water temp changes in short order = lock jaw. This time of year anyway.
  9. That's a 4lb pound tilapia and given the markings, I'd say it was caught from the Rio grande.
  10. I did the kayak fishing for 2 years and find the bass boat much simpler and more efficient. The heaviest thing I pick up now is.....a fish. And this is coming from someone who fishes a lot of electric only lakes.
  11. Lithium batteries have dropped so much in price that I installed a lithium approved onboard charger on my boat just 2 weeks ago in anticipation for the upgrade. 90% of my lead acid deep cycle batteries over the years have been Interstate, never an issue.
  12. 😆 we have this conversation often. My youngest brother " 52 " is a fiber optic guy and is really into high tech, loves it. His vehicles are robots. Me at 64 wish I could still manually roll down my windows. Bought a new truck in 2021 and found the main menu 😮....... disabled every auto feature on the truck, Auto high beam, windshield wipers, door locks, keyless entry, remote start and a bunch of alarms. Call me crazy but have no problem multitasking.
  13. Maybe it's common for him to catch bass like that ❓ But definitely big fish regardless. 😳
  14. Just when I've slowly went with mostly Dobyns, now got to consider Falcon. Thanks 🤔
  15. Flickshake GPM
  16. I always get a weather forecast the night before an outing and pre-rig accordingly.
  17. Trying to keep up with the posts from those in the northern hemisphere. Was busy putting out hummingbird feeders, mowing and spraying wasp nests. 😁 Ik, not funny
  18. I've fished the exact same 400 acre lake 3 times consecutively, same spots as well simply because they've been biting what I'm throwing.
  19. I'll remember that user name and post respectfully 😳
  20. Spotting 100 or so bass from this pond may indicate some culling needs to be done. That's a lot of fish.
  21. Can of Skoal per day $5 X 365 = $1825 per year. I can live without coffee.
  22. Shaky head zoom speed craw watermelon red and green pumpkin magic, 1/8 - 3/8
  23. Today they quit hitting spinnerbaits but inhaled Chatterbaits, go figure. Water temp 53*
  24. My mom and dad passed young so never had to deal with it. My wife's parents " 78 and 83 " are extremely stubborn and with multiple health issues will drive one week and then call asking why we won't take them places. Idk Not to be insensitive but dealing with older people can be quite challenging as to when we step in and trump their decisions..... I'm living it with her parents. Good luck
  25. For the money 💰 The SLX is the cat's meow 😁
