  1. I've always dubbed the Shimano Sierra as the Honda of spinning reels.
  2. Every bait I throw is a " search " bait. Some just move slower than others. You asked about flukes. I have better hookup ratio with them nose hooked but you can't throw them in the junk that way. I twist a spring in the nose.
  3. I switched the Shimano Sierra over to the Omen gold. Yes color match played a role. The 13 fishing went to the St. Croix mojo Bass. Bait monkey likely won't let you wait for a sale 😂
  4. I didn't forget your damage phone 😁 Finally got around to setting up the 13 fishing spinner. Fantastic drag but the reel itself is not as smooth as my Shimano's.
  5. That's it in a nutshell.
  6. Never thought I'd see spinnerbaits make the " ineffective " list. 😳 A top 5 all-time bait of mine.
  7. My fishing partner has a way of limiting the emotional pain of losing a good fish. He claims if he sees it then it counts as a catch......yet he's real quiet for the next 10 minutes. 😂
  8. Yep, I suspected, yard sale stuff 😂
  9. We had frost this morning from a cold front, went fishing anyway. Caught the best one on a Jackall flickshake.......Water temp 55*.
  10. This tragedy is certainly enough to prohibited launching in the fog. The value of a life is immeasurable.
  11. @MN Fisher From reading many of your posts, you ain't no wimp. Gotta keep a positive attitude and beat this.
  12. You had to ask 😯 The St. Croix mojo Bass is a very popular rod so never took a pic. Here's the Omen gold, very nice rod. I'll post some more pics to help repair your phone 😄
  13. I broke a drop-shot rod and the bait monkey launched an attack. Just received 2 reels and 2 rods. Shimano Sierra 2500 paired with a 6'10 med light fast Mojo Bass for drop-shot. Decided to give 13 fishing a try so got a Ascent competition G-man 2.0 paired with a Omen gold 6'9 med light fast for Neds. I know I could use the same rod and reel for both techniques......but why ❓
  14. My gracious that's sad 😢
  15. It's the fade, only reason I reverse it. This is what I use and only takes minutes.
  16. Underspin ! Nadda Which doesn't make sense. Throw a spinnerbait in the same area and gets hammered. Lipless is another non producer.
  17. Prayers sent 📤
  18. I do a fish fry a couple of times of year and LM and spots are fantastic.
  19. I don't want to hijack a thread midstream but what I was referring to is you can't always rely on a bait specific rod to accommodate every scenario. Example: A med light drop shot rod designed for 1/16 - 3/8 is ideal for #1 wide gap drop-shot hook " nose hooked " but some people may t-rig a 3.0 hook to be weedless so now you have a rod with not enough backbone to drive the Hook. It can't be simple.
  20. That's the way I do it. With all the bait specific rods these days I've found it's easier to just look at the hook.
  21. Wow 😳 some serious big days on the water ^. Y'all can steer clear of my little VA lakes 😁
  22. Fish mostly clear water. Jackall flickshake 4.8 Drop-shot Spinnerbait Swim Jig Fluke Shaky head Devil horse Jerkbait Ned Senko Honorable mention: bladed jig
  23. Do it all the time with a drill and an old empty line spoll. As you start pulling the line with the drill and spool , pull a tab of line and tape to the side of spool. Untape and load reel....... reversed.
  24. Catch several per year here in VA and this is what I've found. Yes they are delicious and everyone caught goes in the livewell. I catch them in shallow water in heavy vegetation. They love frogs and Whopper Ploppers, Have not seen bass populations suffer from their existence. BUT I do not support the introduction of invasive species.
  25. From experience this is what I've found. You move up in price range from a $50 rod to a $200 rod there's a significant difference in build quality.....and feel. The gap starts to close as you move up the food chain, not saying quality isn't seen are felt but it's less drastic. One of my favorite rods is SC Mojo Bass and looking at specs for the next rod up, minimal component changes. $300 and up, I ain't even going to look at them, to old and frugal.
