When I'm fishing hard bottom , 1/8 shaky head zoom speed craw watermelon red has done well. On the back of a swim jig in grass and wood. I probably fish both faster than I should due to the fact I'm trying to accommodate this gun slinging power fisherman on the back of the boat.

I love throwing a spinnerbait which is the only reason I'm somewhat tolerant of a little wind. High winds eliminates lighter presentations so it becomes a Dictator and decides what you can or cannot throw. I'll take overcast and calm.

It says 8 but every time I've gotten there early I was able to get in.

It wasn't grass like you'd see along the bank, it was dense hydrilla below the surface.

I fish gin clear water and love flouro......as a leader on all my spinning reels. Been fishing braid on all casting gear for so long without issues, can't think of a reason to change. I will tie on a small leader when throwing jerkbaits due to braids love affair with front treble. I have several spools of Sunline Sniper 8# - 12#. Maybe I'll give it a try on next re-spool. Gotta be better than the Berkeley Vanish I tried many moons ago....... nightmare.

The fish should be spawning at Lake Mooney and there are some big fish in that lake. Last time I was there the water was gin clear with hydrilla covering most of what I could see. I did well pulling a small Keitech paddle tail swim bait through the tops of hydrilla and wacky finesse worms. I don't promote bed fishing but you should see them in that clear water. Not sure how far you are from Rivanna reservoir but the fishing is fantastic but the ramps and parking is terrible.

If you can lift a gun safe by hand then you are truly a savage beast 😳. Hope you heal up completely and can get out on the boat.

Been backing trailers for over 50 years and find it easier if the trailer spends most of it's time in the driver's side mirror. The shorter the trailer the harder it is to back. I've seen some crazy things at the ramp. One particular guy actually greases his wheel bearings on the ramp before backing in. Was talking to another guy on the water 1/2 mile from the ramp that was just taking his boat for a spin. He left his truck on the ramp while trailer was still in the water " 1 ramp lake " . He was about 6'6 300 lbs so I guess certain privileges come with those of that stature. 😂

A weightless fluke skips very well on spinning. Never mastered skipping on casting gear.

Crank a little and get into the water to lineup boat, repeat if necessary. We have many ramps that are unlevel so learned to just get wet.
