How many licenses do you carry?
Lifetime VA license. Yearly non resident WV license. What's odd, VA is a rolling year, year from date of purchase. WV is a calendar year, ends the last day of December regardless of date of purchase.

Closing pond access
I've been dealing with this for 20 years, deer hunters. We live 1/2 mile off state maintained road on a dead end road, up against national Forest......prime deer hunting. I've given several people hunting permission but they end up fighting and being greedy and wanting it for themselves. Plus they invite Uncle's and cousins so we had to shut it down, unbelievable. Currently only one young boy has permission on our property, we threw in the towel. You try to be generous but eventually taken advantage of.

Zzzhhunntt !
Love the sound of a whopper Plopper. Loons have a magical sound. bladed jig transmitting sound through braid.....tap tap tap. Me saying " oh this is a good one " 😁 Least favorite sound is waves crashing the bank from wake boats.

Lithiums or Lead Acid?
My onboard charger has stamped on the back " for lead acid batteries". I ordered another charger for lithium but don't fully understand the charge demands between the 2 batteries. Every piece of equipment that I own that uses lithium batteries have been nothing but impressive. Yes, I'm going all lithium in my boat. Prices have come down and minus 100lbs on the rear of the boat , nice.

Very short trips?
We had a great smallmouth stream just down the hill from our church. As kids we'd play hooky during church and go fishing. THAT IS until we all got chiggers really bad and Grandma said " it serves ya' right " 😂 I fish from a boat so need to throw a whole day at it.

Prespawn!!!
In NC you'll likely challenge your PB every pre-spawn. Lol

Why can't I cast far?
10 ft casting distance would almost have to be line wrap around a guide, can't imagine anything else.

What do you follow your search baits up with?
Misses are a common occurrences, happens a lot. A follow-up plastic works, sometimes.

Dual Pro charger not working
Just replaced my ( 3 yr old ) 2 bank onboard charger with a Noco. One light does still come on so I left the older unit mounted and will use it for the starting battery and mounted the new unit on opposite side for the 2-24v trolling motor batteries. The new charger also accommodates lithium which I'll definitely go to in the near future......less 100lbs on the rear of boat will be nice.

Early Prespawn and Prespawn favorite lures for PB size fish?
Jigs have produced my biggest LM bass during the pre spawn. Last year I broke my line on a potential PB on a Zoom baby brush hog. Spinnerbaits and jerkbaits would be other great choices. Imo

How do you approach a new body of water?
Talk to a local, you'd be surprised. Was fishing a big lake last August, water temps were in the 80's and the lake was down 10ft due to drought. As I approach the ramp, 2 guys were standing beside a bass boat so I figured why not. Explained to the guys that I was not a local, just wanted to catch a few fish. They kindly marked my map and gave bait recommendations. Went on to have a great day of fishing.

Small hiatus from BR

Everywhere everyday exercise
Simply stay busy. My wife has always said that I'm hyper active, gotta be doing something..... she's right. This morning I waxed her car and vacuumed the downstairs and this afternoon, went to an elderly friends house " really old like 68 😂 kidding" and cut him a load of wood. I don't like sitting and doing nothing until evening. I have friends that are my age (64) that are declining rapidly from being a couch potato..... not good.

2 Stroke Synthetic Blend Oil - best bang for the buck ?
As a long follower of 2-stroke engines, don't think you can find a bad oil these days. Synthetic / dyno, doesn't matter much anymore.

I have roughly $40,000 dollars to spend. What boats should I get?
I would definitely look at Lowe.

What are your 3-5 go to lures for water temps under 50*
Maybe because it's geographic or I'm a miserable failure 😳 But for LM bass, I don't do well with water temps below 50. I caught 2 on a flat side crank a couple of years ago and threw a victory parade. Can we talk about 50* water ❓ Jigs Spinnerbaits Jerkbaits

Overcast conditions
I fish very clear water and overcast is much preferred. Steep shady banks can be fun on sunny days.

Winter 2024 / 2025 ~

Winter 2024 / 2025 ~
After a loooong cold and windy winter I'm going out for the 1st time in 2025. 70's most of next week so will pick out the least windiest day. Certainly don't expect optimal water temps but just trolling around the lake casting and the anticipation of the 1st bite should restore sanity 😉

What have you lost over the side?
Everything I've ever lost happened on one trip. " Early 80's " We were floating the river in a Coleman Crawdad with plans of doing a campout, we had a lot of gear. My buddy and I both had to get low to go under a low water bridge where the current was strong. We came out to see a large root bed from a previous flood. It happened quick, front of boat rode right up the root bed and boat flipped end for end landing upside down. We lost sleeping bags, coolers, tackle boxes, cameras, flip phones, my coveted Shimano Bantams. We've done this float many times and were young and confident......but not prepared for this.
