  1. Yeah hoping he chimes in.
  2. In the gin clear water I fish, I'm probably 80% finesse fishing and actually enjoy it. Submerged shallow timber, I just gots to chuck a Spinnerbait ?
  3. Wife has another business trip at a resort on the lower James river. They have a private boat ramp and parking lot so of course I'm going with her and bringing the boat. Gotta admit I'm a little intimidated as this is a vast body of tidal water and calling for 80% chance of rain everyday. I'll be fishing alone and have never bass fished tidal water. My research suggests fishing a falling tide in mouths of creeks. Anyone know the area? Advice ?
  4. Good post. Yes we all get caught up in the pursuit trying to focus and sometimes forget about the simple things. I bring plenty of water but get caught up in the moment and go long spells without drinking or eating. I know better and need to work on that. Stay safe
  5. Flukes, soft swim baits, frogs as well as weightless senkos. I prefer to stay in the upper water column when dealing with thick pads and a suitable rod for hoisting fish out.
  6. Coleman crawdad and Pelican Bass raider comes to mind, owned both.
  7. I like Ford, I like Shimano but no way am I paying for Starbucks coffee.
  8. Some days are diamonds and some days are stone " John Denver ". My day was stone as well....... one fish ?
  9. Yeah something ain't right. I have (2) group 27 interstate batteries on a 24v 70lb motorguide. Wife and I fished 5-6 hrs per day for 7 days without a recharge........ only because we were in a remote location and had no way of recharging. This was a rare occasion but we had trolling motor the entire time.
  10. Wow that's almost insurance claim damage. ? Elaztech is the only material that gets me every year.......a love hate relationship.
  11. I'm early to bed, early to rise so not much night fishing other than occasional cat fishing. MUCH prefer the heat over cold.
  12. Welcome to Bass Resources
  13. Here's my best tip from a boat. When there is some resistance on your bait don't YANK and try to free the bait and possibly set the hook in wood. Relax and reposition opposite of snag and 99% of the time you recover bait. I never break off deliberately to save a hot spot........ don't want the fish to see what I'm throwing. ?
  14. Did you mean 1/4 - 3/4 on the rod rating ? I wouldn't put a $300 reel on that rod, get a Shimano SLX.
  15. When I was doing small engine repair out of my garage as a side business years ago I saw first hand the effects of ethanol shortly after it showed up at the pumps. As mentioned ethanol draws moisture into the fuel and this moisture settles below the fuel causing corrosion and piting in the carburator. Anytime someone would bring me a chainsaw that sat for months with ethanol fuel, I'd simply order a new carburetor. Sitting is the culprit.
  16. I only run non ethanol fuel in my boat simply because it's readily available in my neck of the woods. On the last trip of the year the tank gets quicksilver fuel stabilizer.
  17. Pound for pound nothing beats a Cichlid period....... having grown up in a tropical fish store as a child. ?
  18. I left this part out. He said on tournament weekends there's no place to step in his boat where you'd avoid stepping on a worm. ? Nonetheless he was a super nice guy, we talked for close to an hour.
  19. Seems like fishing and Ole wives tales go hand and hand ?
  20. Ran into a guy at the ramp yesterday, super nice and avid bass fisherman. He said he fishes mainly 1 bait, a 5" finesse worm, black/blue with a split shot 6" above worm. I can relate to this but what I find bizarre is he had at least 100 of these worms, maybe more thrown all around his boat. Asked him why his floor was blanketed with worms and he said he plans to recycle them. Here's the strange part........ He said once he catches a fish the worm is useless and he grabs a new one. Claims a bass releases a pheromone during the fight and his success rate plummets unless the worm is replaced. It's his money.......any thoughts on this ?
  21. Sorry to hear about the health issues. My long time fishing partner is in the hospital as we speak waiting on double bypass surgery. Praying for a speedy recovery and many Smallmouth attacking your baits.
  22. I've never eaten one, just can't get past the appearance. They look like a fish from Hell. ?
  23. Ha ha I've watched Judge Judy try these cases before. It's obvious that the Land owners trees cannot comphemise the livelihood of adjoining properties but you cannot trespass, only trim invasive limbs. We live in a remote area and have not experienced this scenario.
  24. We have one particular lake that is full of Snakehead, shallow and full of Lilly pads. Crappie fisherman say they are incredibly tasty fish, better than Crappie. Every fish I intend to eat, simply cut them behind the gill and no flopping.
  25. I use bobber stops and a beed for a little clicking sound.......yes leave a little bit of room. I'm only 1/8 oz weight though and a finesse worm, basically a mojo rig.
