  1. I'm the opposite ...I like a fast with a jig and an extra fast with a Texas rig. Not sure why but it just feels right to me. That said I've thrown both on both successfully so i suppose it doesnt really matter much to me.
  2. We don't do a garden but several friends and family members do so we always have tomatoes, various peppers, cucumbers, zucchini and summer squash. I also hunt asparagus like a fiend in the spring. From time to time I stumble on a big batch of morels.
  3. That first bass after ice out is a success to me..doesn't matter if its my first trip or 10th trip if the spring. Teaching others to catch bass is also a success to me. My goal is to catch fish but being outside doing what I love is rewarding in itself...fish are just the icing.
  4. I started fishing when I was 4.. We were living in Louisiana at the time. I started fishing for bass in 2002. Ill be 39 in May so 35 years total...20 for bass. The past 5 or 6 years I've really ramped the bass thing up.
  5. Sometimes I will forego a more boring technique and sacrifice bites for something more exciting. Case in point..if I know I could catch a dozen on a wacky rig I may say screw it and fish for 5 bites with a buzz bait instead.
  6. Ran to the grocery store in town to pick up a few things yesterday. They had cauliflower at $7.29 a head. No thanks.
  7. Sounds like an awful problem to have
  8. Now that you mention it...
  9. I only throw jerkbaits under 1\2oz. My current setup is a Majorcraft Nanoace 6'9" medium fast with a Lews tournament MB spooled with 12lb izorline xxx copolymer.
  10. Wouldn't say ill never try them again but paddle tail swimbaits..ie keitech style...don't catch crap for me. Drop shot is on that list.
  11. I read reviews on here...that's about it.
  12. I use a 7ft medhvy mod fast falcon bucoo trapcaster primarily. For baits I use 1\2oz Cordell spots for straight retrieve and 1\4oz red eye shads for hopping. Line of choice is 15lb big game.
  13. How do I retrieve it? Quickly so I can cut it off and tie on a Ned rig or shaky head. I can't catch crap on a drop shot.
  14. Last summer I started throwing big red worms..namely redbug...because guys rave about them. They did not disappoint...but I'm not so sure they wouldn't work all the time. I've tried the red lipless thing for years with marginal success...had much better luck during that time frame on gold black back.
  15. You justify marrying your sister by saying " well at least she won't have to change her last name"
  16. We both pitch in..that's the only way it works. We do our own laundry...both do dishes equally. Share litter box duty. I cook as much or more than her and not just "man cooking" like grilling or smoking..I do everything but baking. I do most of the yard work and snow removal..she does most of the vacuuming and counter top\sink cleaning. No reason for either of us to think we can lord over the other one.
  17. That was me this morning at work cleaning cooling tower screens..wind howling from the north...felt like -15.
  18. The body of water I frequent most often is actually two connected ponds. One larger and deeper with mostly sand bottom the other smaller pond is also shallower with more mud mixed in on the bottom. Obviously the smaller body warms faster so that is where I focus my energy early on. I've had good success fishing the north shore for both bass and crappie...for the crappie I use a small tube jig under a slip bobber reeled back painfully slow.
  19. Coddling from a young age has helped make this new generation weak. I'm not saying I haven't had my issues in my life and I'm by no means an old man far removed from him...ill be 39 in May...but I've never borrowed Money from my parents, always paid my share and I've worked full time all but about 6-8 months total since I was 17. I have a buddy who had a hard time sticking with a job. Great guy..he's my best friend..but just couldn't seem to stick with it. I had a heart to heart with him one day and said hey its a job you can always find a bulls%&$ reason to hate it but they are paying you to be there for a reason so get your head put of your a%& stick it out and support your family. He's been doing the same job for a few years now..he's making good money and hes past the whole jump ship part.

Buddy found some of these for cheap and is gonna give me a pack. Anybody like these? How are you using them?
  21. I'm done with pflueger..used to be my go to but they have disappointed me the past several years. Daiwa is at the top of the spinning reel game IMO...not hard to find a smooth functional reel at almost any price point. If you have a bad taste in your mouth about Daiwa then I'd say Shimano is the next logical choice.
  22. I also apologize if I came across as rude..was not my intent. I read your original post and assumed you weren't fishing not just fishing without success. To answer correctly now that I have this info- I totally get where you are coming from. Most years I would be going stir crazy by now and ice fishing alot to hold me over until my preferred open water. This year is different because I have a new job and a diet\lifestyle change I'm focusing on so its not getting to me...yet anyhow.
  23. Looks like I can't read very well..ha whatever you say dude. Sorry I commented didn't realize you were gonna be a jerk about it. Won't happen again.
