  1. Well said, @Glenn. He was an excellent moderator, the best fisherman I know, and one of the most generous people I've met. I'm thankful to be allowed to fish with him, and for all that he's taught me in the short time I've known him. I also love hearing his fish tales. He always seems to have a perfect one for any situation you find yourself in. He knows I'm not a drinker, but I'll raise a cup of coffee for him! Thanks @roadwarrior! You're the man!
  2. Nice job! It's funny how fishing can be so different. I can't get a bite on a plopper, but if the bite is tough I'm pretty sure I can get one on a baby brush hog.
  3. I catch largemouth, smallmouth, and spots in the TN river using mostly the same lures. Worms, grubs, craws, paddle tails, lipless, underspins, and jigs. The only real difference for me in lure selection when specifically targeting SMB is lure size. I don't usually catch SMB on extremely large lures. The primary differentiator for me is location. I catch more SMB around current, and rocks. I catch more LMB in slower moving water, and grass.
  4. The bait monkey will not approve of us talking about only using one lure, and two colors. 🤣 Lure - Rage menace Colors - smokey shad, & watermelon red TX rig. They can be rigged vertically to mimic baitfish, or horizontally to mimic a craw.
  5. Got to fish from a boat for the first time in 2 months. Just been a busy, and hot summer. We started out with temps in the upper 50s, which is rare for us in August. The fishing was hot while the temp was cool. We caught 16 before noon, and only 2 after noon. Nothing big, but the morning was a nice preview of fall. The one below had some nice markings. I caught one so small it was hilarious. I felt a strike, pulled back, felt no resistance so I let up. Then I thought I felt the line move so I pulled back again. Again, felt no resistance so I let up. I decided that I must have snagged some grass, or a stick so I reeled in and found the beast below on the hook. 🤣
  6. 94 is extremely impressive. Well done @T-Billy!
  7. If you can't find that color locally, Academy sports has them on their website. That specific color is usually crazy cheap on there.
  8. I've used a Zoom Fat Albert that's clear with silver flake. It is truly clear plastic. It's not my best producer, but I have caught fish with it. The water I typically fish is not very clear though.
  9. Can't go wrong fishing with a hat with that T on it.
  10. Man, that last one has some really nice color @T-Billy. Nice fish!
  11. Your pictures always make me think I should go to Maine. Have a great trip!
  12. That looks great!
  13. Looks like a great trip, and happy 40th b-day!
  14. The tail on this one is massive compared to the length of the fish! I bet that beast was fun to catch.
  15. Hope you have a quick, and full recovery.
  16. It's ok to put glasses where your fish should be...just don't put fish where your glasses should be. It could get messy.
  17. 1. Senko 2. Rage Tail Menace 3. Brush Hog or Lizard 4. Trick Worm 5. Ribbontail Worm Like most of us I have too many colors of each, but my color categorization is pretty simple: 1. Light (White, grey) 2. Green (watermelon, green pumpkin) 3. Dark (black/blue, june bug) 4. Red (tequilas, red bug/plum)
  18. Happy birthday! Thank you for all the great info you've posted on BR.
  19. Congrats @bp_fowler! Nice fish!
  20. Is your objective to have fun catching fish, or to please this other person? If you're not doing anything illegal/wrong then I say fish the way you want. Don't worry about what others say. If you found the fish, you used skill. It doesn't matter what kind of bait you use if there are no fish around to bite it. Good luck!
  21. The "swivel clips don't lie" rig. AKA the Shakira rig.
  22. @ol'crickety You are truly an inspirational angler at BR & beyond!
  23. Nice fish, & beautiful pond!
  24. BR is a great group of folks!
