Extending wires
(unless I am missing your point) your good vs bad connectors are the same connectors. the round is where the actual wires/conductors go. they are round shaped now, but once you crimp them - no longer round. the flat side is where they mate up with the other connector flat side make the solid contact. OP this is an Anderson SC connector and is what I am using. @Zachary Guyach I think the Anderson route will work for what you are doing, but there are some limitations. first crimping a SB50 connector - the round end of above - is no joke. they use a special crimping tool that costs a lot of money. I used a dulled out bolt cutter super slow and carefully and I got a solid crimp. the connection is solid!! second, the Anderson SD50 connector is bulky. if flies around like a mace in my kayak and is effective as a grappling hook. it hooks on everything. if you can tuck it away, good. the connectors are also kinda expensive. especially buying in 1-2 as we need. and you purchase the inserts separately. buy extras, trust me. look at Newport Vessels "extension" kit. comes with a block that you simply bolt two connectors together with brass hardware. easy peasy, and you can screw that block to a bulkhead easily. here are the posts for the insides of the Anderson SD. you can see the round side and the flat side. @FloridaFishinFool I do believe your good vs bad are the same connectors - just opposite sides. oh..there are clones, copies, fakes. buy the legit ones, way better than the ones my friend bought. mine click together with authority.

The Inelegant Exit
of all my activities, getting out of my kayak - I look dope as heck. and I am kinda old. here is how I go. I pedal towards shore. as I get near, I pull my pedal drive and paddle in. as I get even closer, I stand up and use my paddle SUP-style and come in standing. as I get closer I work the paddles so I come in slow and just as the keel touches earth, I walk off the tip, like the elf in LOTRing coming off the trunk of the giant elephant thing. as I step, off the kayak wants to shoot back out into the water (Newtons first Law, I think) , but I drag the paddle on the nose and hold it in place. hahaha.. I dont even get out of bed with as much grace and poise.

Considering taking August off
rock fishing ends Sept. I'll be "old man and the sea" most of august. it is downright cold out there. never gets into the 60's. dry suit over a hoodie weather. I suppose I am lucky I have a refuge from the heat. the drive back to my house from the sea, I keep dialing the AC cooler and cooler. hahahha... my house is in a cooler climate, but my lakes are right there "next to Africa" in the heat zone.

1st skunk of 2025!
Haha. Brutal. Water was warm like bath water. I saw 77 degrees F. It was dayglow green from algae. The grass was brown/black from weed abatement. it was nice floating around out there. Zero bites. Clearlake. Nobody was catching that I could see and talk to. it was bound to happen. good times!

Best Tournament Rod Lineups
One brand? If I did tournaments I’d go in with my mish-mash of rod combos. I’d put Daiwa reels on Shimano rods. Just show up in cutoff shorts and a hoodie. I’m not sure how I’d categorize “tournament-rods”. All matching stuff?

RT178 vs RT178C

Am I the only one….
10 fish. I counted them. a Berkely Choppo I found in Oklahoma. the bigger ones. 10 fish total certainly isn't a success story. not by a long shot. I dont even bring it anymore. and. mine is bone colored which I feel is my main topwater color if available. I found that a longass cast is my secret. I stay back and just let it rip. the fish hammered it when I was way out.

Motorized or not
I think my battery weighs in just a tad over 25lbs. I can carry it to the kayak all day long. but even that relatively small weight added to my kayak saps some enjoyment out of it. I can feel it easily. my motor is light...16lbs I think. I reserve it for all but my largest lakes. like Saturdays run to Clearlake, I might bring the motor. registering it was easy, and didnt cost that much. I got the boaters card. but the motor did cross the line and labeled my kayak a motorized vessel and along with that came with all the responsibilities associated with that. True story. I was on the California Delta. one of my 'let me get the motor out" bodies of water. I came across a guy with my exact same kayak and same motor. I was just fishing, and he elected to engage with me and tell me now dumb I was to "succumb to the man" and register my kayak. I pretty much ignored him...but I see it. it was like my prayers were answered. (almost). I see an official looking boat chugging towards us. it had the look of a game warden. I say, "well, here comes the man!. you tell him what you think". this guy scurries into the tules and hides. hahahha.. it was just a bunch of state biologist doing a survey on what and how we caught fish. that dude came out sheepishly...hahahha... I thought, "if I have nothing nice to say, say nothing..."

Man overboard!
100%. the added bouyancy makes the re-entry possible. if you were using all your juice to stay afloat and get aboard..yikes. you have 1-2 shots. it is a full, entire body exercise move. chin up, a plank, a run,..it is a gross move. exhausting.

Cigars..
Best thing happened to me. We backpacked to 11,000 feet. At camp we smoked a cigar each. I puked my guts out into a small stream. Cured me. It’s been 2 decades since. No thank you. enjoy people! I have enough in my life trying to wipe me out. Haha.

Rate your Water
my secret lake. I rate it 4 stars. why? because it sucks to go there. dirt road, so everything gets a coating of fine dust. everything. the ramp goes dry by July. then the only ramp is run by a woman that likes to sleep in. she doesnt open up the gate to pay until 8:30. winter time when it is wet, you need 4x4, but at least the dust is gone. it is also 4 stars because it sucks to go there. so only a few fishermen ever go. 90% of the time, I am alone. the fish are bigger than usual, and angry. best fighting LMB in my area. you rarely see a bassboat because all the dirt and grime. but theyre there occasionally. but they cant go where I go. I go shallow. dink one star because the pontoon boaters dont care about grit. they go.. its a fun lake. I love it and I will be there this winter. I'll wear a dry suit so I dont die..and I will get a whopper.

A good gift idea.
my wife thinks I am the easiest person to shop for. she said, "anybody that fishes is easy to shop for!!" last time, it was a rod. before that..a fishing shirt. heck. I think my kayak was a Christmas gift. doesn't hurt that I leave my browser open to cool gear all the time - for her to accidentally "discover". one year it blew up in my face. I was looking at the Hobie bucket that goes into the front hatch. I was looking and scoffing at how and why is it $75 ("that's ridiculous!") . she saw it on my browser, and she bought it for me. I kid you not..it holds laundry gear. one year I brined a turkey in it. hahahha....I have never put it into my kayak. my battery is there. opps.

Evollution Of (my) Kayak Carts.....
WOW!!! that is so good. I'll order some now!! unless you happened to have ordered a 200 pack. hahah I ordered several since I got absolutely hosed on shipping. hahah....I can rig up other things. thanks again for this fantastic idea...not sure why it never came up in my feeble brain before. I was going to my elderly neighbor to sew hoops...haha..

Evollution Of (my) Kayak Carts.....
@Crow Horse I need your help. I have a similar cart. Pics later. are your cam straps permanently connecting your cart? I want to attach straps to mine. Right now I take the longs one I use to secure kayak in my truck and it was not ideal. More work, I dragged unnecessary beach sand to my truck, etc. I think I’ll just cut mine down and tie them to the cart. Unless you came up with something better.

Man overboard!
Not yet. But I’m ready. I practiced climbing back on board multiple times. It’s tougher than it looks. Exhausting. I did it for an hour in a big swimming pole initially, and had to lay poolside for a bit. i did it last year in a river. Once. I got on. I still need to go thru the exercise this season. I’m in the ocean now occasionally. It will happen. Hopefully not , but I’m not delusional. It will happen. I watched my friend tip the untippable. A Pro Angler. He couldn’t flip it back. A small boat towed the entire mess to shore. He lost all his rods. I dove in to look for his Steez setup and came up and had blue algae stuck to my head. I got out. Haha.

It Had To Be Me
Emulsion filth aside: that traffic control plan was faulty. I do this for a living and public safety is paramount. I would have put a flagged at that intersection. those paving crews clean everything with diesel.

anything I buy these days, it will come with a survey asking how they performed. haha.
