  1. Any barn around me is infested with groundhogs. I've tried to catch these things for people with very little success. I guess I just don't have enough traps to cover all the holes they have. The ones I have caught I've ate, and they weren't half bad.
  2. I broke a rod yesterday on a fish. I use cheaper rods for wade-fishing bc I'm rough on my gear. I caught a 3- pounder and for some reason decided to try and "boat-flip" it on the sandbar. Snap! My rod breaks 3/4 of the way up the rod. It also probably didn't help that I tried to flip a fish knowing it was a $20 rod. Warning: I would suggest not buying a Jawbone rod. P.S. - I still landed the fish thank the lord
  3. I would say it's bad timing and there's nothing you could have done. Also it could've been another species than bass going after your lure on the surface. This happened with me while fishing with a weightless senko, and I missed like five fish in a row right when the bait hit the water. Come to find out, it was gar the whole time.
  4. Good fish! I'm glad you were able to get that fish in. I have the worst luck with fish getting me wrapped on laydowns or logs.
  5. I always reset my drag before I cast my first cast
  6. Welcome Jake!
  7. These are in fact bluegill/green sunfish hybrids. We have them around here in every pond and lake. They are as aggressive as green sunfish but fight as hard as bluegill. I'm almost positive it's a natural cross but I could be mistaken. They're definitely cool-looking and fun to catch.
  8. Strike King KVD Splash jr
  9. Their rods are amazing and the Gx2 is almost indestructible. The reels suck though in my experience.
  10. I was having trouble about a year ago with the jig bite and connecting on my hookups. I use mono sometimes and don't have many problems. The best advice I can give you is to find a certain jig that works for you. Mine is the Strike King Bitsy Bug it has the perfect weedguard and is light-weight.
  11. It's a thing I use them all the time. I use it as a searchbait like it's on a jighead instead of hopping it.
  12. Welcome from Tennessee
  13. It's crazy that they get that big but are harmless to humans. Thank the lord Lol
  14. As a "southern" boy, I think that is a heck of a fish! All my family lives in Ohio and they haven't caught anything within 2 pounds of that. Congrats!
  15. I do well on chunk rock, eddies, and current breaks.
  16. I would throw a crankbait or lipless crank. Beware of the snags though!
