Getting some work done on the old 20hp Merc
Much cgeaper than buying a new one, and probably goes faster!

Spare Prop
I have carried a spare prop for my boat motor for over 55 years of boating....just in case...have never had to use it !!! Probably shouldnt have said that as my luck will now change !! I have pulled my boat up behind other folks that have damaged props and reached over to helped them change theirs or let them come aboard so they can reach over to change there own.

Bow roller
Thanks for the explanation, but it appears my boat is a little different. The Y stop on the winch stand moves up and down so when the bow comes up against the stop it can flex a little bit to align itself. This movement is slight, mabey a quarter of an inch...not sure a roller would be any advantage.

Bow roller
I guess I didnt word my response very well, curious as to why the roller as a bow stop VS the Y shaped stop ? My boat is already centered by the time it reaches the bow stop. Is there something to this fancy roller I am missing?

Curious why you need one of these bow rollers?? By the time my bow reaches the bow stop it is already centered !! Am I missing something here ?

Newport Vessels new kayak outboard motor
"Rated at 3 hp" saw that before, many electric trolling motors have been rated at 2,3 and even 4 hp....however, in real life, none have been able to beat my 2.2 hp gas on a 12' jon boat. Over the years I have friends that bought these hp rated electric motors and we have tested them in my pond. My little 2.2 gas has outrun them all. Not sure how they come up with this HP rating.....

First boat in many years
Hard to tell from the pics, my Merc has the pin holes for tilt but also has the power trim unit. Do I see a trim cylinder in that pic ???

Any thoughts on this?
You coukd get a nice aluminum boat for that price!!

Ever see a motor like this?
The fact that they are pushing the hp and rpm limits on these new 4 strokes makes me concerned. Kinda like a nascar racing engine, they are getting over 700 hp at 9K plus rpm, great performance but short life! Cant help but see the same thing in these new high hp 4 stroke outboards !!

A Very Difficult Good Bye
Lost 5 loving pets during my 72 years, and NO...it doesnt get any easier!!! In fact it probably gets harder! Our current baby has quite a few years left ( hopefully) but when it is her time, this one just might take me with her....she has been the best by far!!

Show your ride...

First boat in many years
Closer look at your pics makes me think you have the sister ship to mine. I have a Sylvan 16' side console, looks very similiar to yours!!! I love mine, handles a two foot chop very well, looking forward to more pics.

Woow...bet those babies ain"t cheap...as hard as they are pushing them for HP.....how long are they gonna last ?? once that warrany expires, how expensive are they gonna be to work on them??? Glad I wont be the first one to try them out...

First boat in many years
Really nice looking boat!!! Just curuous as to why you put the hydro fin on before trying it out? Don"t forget the trailer maintenence, wheel bearings, winch strap, etc. Hopefully you flushed, cleaned out any old fuel left in the tank. So pics of her in the water would be nice for us who are still in winter mode, looking out the window and wishing boating season was here !!

- Hi from NW Ohio
- Custom 2 GPS mount for Autopilot
Wow...took me a few munutes to realize it was a kayak !!!!! Where do you sit ?? Lol...- Defective battery?
Probably a flawed battery, I gave used WM batteries for years with great sucess/ value for the dollar spent- Lithium and AGM together
The problem is, when the two batteries do not match then they will fight, you do not want to tick off a lithium battery, because when they are not treated the way they want....they catch on fire...quickly..very quickly...then they burn white hot and burn up anything within there reach !! I have used them for years and they are great, but do not make a mistake with them, nor cross them as you will pay !! I have witnessed personally a lithium battery get hooked up to the wrong charger. The owner realized this and pulled the plug within seconds of realizing the mistake. In seconds the battery turned to a white hot fire, burnt thru the bench top, dropped onto a concrete floor and burnt a crater into the concrete floor all within less than 15 seconds !!!! And your fire extinguisher wont put it out. !!! It needs to be smothered in sand.... which of course we all carry on our boats !!! Can you imagine all this happening if you were to make a simple mistake in your boat ??? Lithium are great but not worth the gamble in a boat! Now there is a much safer version called a Life04 or something like that, it is much safer but also more expensive. I am considering these when my agm batteries need replaced.- Boating safety idea.
With the big push on electric everything and with new battery technology, lots of definitions in the laws will be changing in the near future !!- Dealer credit for electronics takeoffs
Yep, luck plays into a good buy quite often, wgether new or used....just depends on how much patience a buyer has !!- Boating safety idea.
A lot depends on the state you live in and the area you boat in. Here in Ohio, they will pull you over if there is an official in the area. I look forward to a safety inspection, so I can get that safety sticker so they wont bother me anymore. Last year I downsized my boat, bought a very nice used outfit. Spent much of the last couple months of the boating season looking to get a safety inspection, nope...they are never around when you need them !!!- Boating safety idea.
I took the safety course with my grandkids a few years back, not much on hand powered craft, mostly about power boats and a bit on sailboats. Rights of way and the laws.- Folding trailer - made for highway speed?
Do you realize how many people are driving on I -75 at 80 mph on tires that are rated for only 55 mph ?? Most cheaper tires are not sustained speed rated!! That means they should only be used for very short trips at speeds over 60 mph, some tires even less ! Only good better quality tires are speed rated, meaning you can jump on I-75 and head to Florida. Over half the cars on the highway are driving at speeds above the tire recomendations. One reason we see so many blowouts on the highway. I wouldn't put much faith into there rating, look at the tires themselves to see if speed rated. It could be the trailer mfgrs lawyer that added the speed recomendations to be politically correct.- Dealer credit for electronics takeoffs
Keep in mind the stuff they remove from the boat is now used, they will never get there money back on used electronics. Generally dealer cost is 30-35% below retail, so they wont give you more credit than what it costs them. The more you buy or the bigger the sale, the bigger discount you will get. Just simple math. Supply and demand controls all prices, buy when they are overstocked, walk away when boats are few!!
