I'm in my early 30s. My Saturday mornings were Yu-Gi-Oh, bro.

The only fishing on TV that I can recall in the 60s was on American Sportsman, (maybe) Wide World of Sports, and local anglers Bill Burton and Lefty Kreh on local broadcasts. B.A.S.S. didn’t exist until 1967 and I don’t think there were any tournaments on broadcast TV that I can recall. 

Does anyone remember Dan Gapen and "Bobber" Anne? I forget the name of his show.

 

Dan's show concentrated on river fishing in the north country and mostly on small mouth and walleye. 

Being from the Carolinas, my favorite was The Southern Sportsman with Franc White.  He covered every thing an outdoor sportsman could do.

 

Also, did anyone mention Virgil Ward?

 

Fishing with Roland Martin and Bill Dance Outdoors were my favorites when I was a kid on sat mornings

Bill Dance is the only show I ever consistently watched, and the only one I watch now.  All the others don’t teach me anything, and are geared more toward showmanship than fishing.  I hate it when some ‘angler’ brings in a good bass and starts screaming .

Denny Brauer had a show in the late ‘90s. I think it was called Bass University. I could listen to Denny all day and he was my favorite Pro back then.

Lefty Kreh? You wouldn’t happen to be from Frederick would you? I grew up there.

No, born and raised in Baltimore, but lived almost 30 years in Harford County. But used to hunt the Watershed frequently and back in the day, my friend from Eldersburg and I used to go cruising in Frederick. Was it called the Circle?

God, you must in my age range lol. My buddies and I were in our early to mid 20’s in the 80s. After the ‘83 season we were  (after getting decent jobs and $$$) going to buy season tickets for the ‘84 season. It’ll be 38 years to the day in one week since they left in a blizzard. Where the heck did the time go?

I remember sending a letter to Al Lindner about muskie fishing when I was a kid, and he did write back, which impressed me.  For sheer fishing knowledge, you couldn't beat In-Fisherman.

Rayo Breckenridge. He had one show where he was bank fishing a pond with a Bayou Boogie.

Bill Dance and Jimmy Houston, recorded all their shows when VCR came about.

That's the only fishing show I remember watching when I was a kid.   I've got the theme song playing in my head right now.   

 

For more modern stuff, I don't watch tournaments or any bass fishing stuff.  My Wife and I like watching "River Monsters".   We say "fish on" with an attempted British accent every time we hook a fish.
