Fishing has been terrible lately. Tons of dinks. My biggest fish in a while has been in the 2.5lb range. I did lose two really nice fish right at the boat one day. The heat is killing me lately, it's in the 90's at 10am....I'm getting old I guess.

Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

  • So I went fishing today, and caught a 9#. Scale bounced between 8-15 and 9-2, but let's call it a 9, shall we? NLMB trout eater.   Super slow rolling a 8" weedless on the bottom in about 15

I am with you on the struggles lately. So hot and muggy that it’s not even enjoyable to fish. Ready for fall to get them biting again!

Yes, I'm looking forward to it! I've had some luck at the lake in my boat, but there is so much bait in the water it's not an easy task to catch em!

Got out for a few tonight. Had smallies hitting top water and one on the Yamamoto swimming ned. Got 7 total 3 over 2 lbs biggest went just under 20”. Smallmouth are  such a rush.

20" smallie that wasn't even 3lbs?? Either they're super skinny (doesn't look like it in your picture), or your scale is off. When I get a 20" smallie here, they're usually over 4 and even had one go 5 at that length.

I didn’t have my scale on me. Just guesstimating on weight, I always guess low the biggest was probably close to if not over 4.

He said over two but never said under 3……… it could be a riddle

anyway you slice it, nice smallmouth(s)!

Grandsons first solo (put worm on, cast, land) fish.

Not need to teach him how to go through  the gills to get a gut hooked fish off?

Finished the week with 50 bass today from a short trip around a local pond - all on a mushroom head jig and one Zman plastic bait; and it will probably catch at least 50 more - lol. Biggest today went just about 16 inches, so nothing great size wise - just great fun. Might see just how many fish I can catch on that single Zman bait as a fun side project. Not sure what my record is, so this might set a PB standard for me in that category. I'll update here in this reports thread if I decide to do it

That makes 127 bass in the past 7 days walking the banks on the days I fished but didn't take the boat out. One rod - one reel - and just a zipper bag of baits and terminal tackle stuffed in a pocket. Mobility rules from the bank. Don't over complicate it.

Kid smoked them skipping docks this afternoon. 17 total in 2 hours.  12 we’re dinks under a lb, 5 over 2 lbs biggest went 3.2. I played captain on the trolling motor to get him positioned perfectly.

Got out for a couple hours after work tonight. Hammered about 30 of these guys, most on a popper, and a few on a Tokyo rigged Maxscent creature hawg.

Stopped off at a local shallow puddle for a quick one and nabbed a few carbon copy midgets on a Fat IKA, but a kid fishing nearby got to dance with the belle of the ball. 26" donk!

Some of my recent adventures, first two fish are from my old pond that suffered a fish kill 3 years ago but got restocked recently. Fish aren't the biggest but are growing fast!

I had the best day of the season so far today.  My Father and I landed 27 largemouth and 7 pike in about 5 hours, including several tanks.  The highlight of the day were 20 and 20 3/4 inchers I caught about 30 minutes apart, both the biggest largies I've caught this season.

rained like a dam broke on me but waders and frog toggs kept me bone dry. Low light into the evening and dirty water made me think black/red spinner with a good ole black mr twister grub trailer.

Got on water a bit later than usual. Didn’t get 5’ from shore and started getting peppered with calls from work, then found out dinner plans with friends morphed into lunch. Felt like I was in and out of the water in a blink lol. Caught one decent bass on a Whopper Plopper.

Very little. 2/10 in the gauge from as night. Basically enough to wet the ground. You probably need it more than I do. It cooled off nicely today and feels much more comfortable out.

Those rainy days of fishing are the best and often produce good results.

Got out this AM and the day started in a most inauspicious way. First, a log had drifted to the end of the ramp and, because it was 0’dark 30, I couldn’t see it and hit it while backing in. Fortunately, no damage. Next, I went to adjust my butt seat and it fell all the way to the bottom and didn’t want to come back up. 10 minutes, and a few choice words, later and I got it to the height I wanted. To top it all off, I stuck the bottom with my Tokyo rig on my first cast and ended up breaking off. All this before I was 25’ from the ramp.  I seriously thought about putting the boat back on the trailer.

But, I persevered and the day turned out decent. Caught a total of 8 LMB; 7 in the 13”-14” range on my Tokyo rig and one that went 3.36 on White/chart chatterbait with a white 3” zoom fluke as a trailer.

Nothing special or noteworthy tonight, maybe 5 fish in a hour or so. Nothing really picture worthy. Biggest fish maybe 14 if I was lucky. I am starting to develop faith in owner jungle 4/0 flipping hooks though ?didn’t feel like digging my phone out of my pocket with my waders on lol.
