Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

Had my boss and his son over today . Primary goal was bream. The 2nd bream Alex hooked , as he had it almost to the dock , a bass clobbered the bream and he hooked the bass right in the corner of the

  • So I went fishing today, and caught a 9#. Scale bounced between 8-15 and 9-2, but let's call it a 9, shall we? NLMB trout eater.   Super slow rolling a 8" weedless on the bottom in about 15

First time out in a while.  Didn’t think the weather would cooperate at first as it was raining and the wind was brutal.

Once I got to the spot the rain let up but the wind really made me regret not bringing my spinning rod.  You can see it a bit in this first picture but it really doesn’t do it justice.  IMG_1634.jpeg.3425f50867b527f87d4b4e612e15c486.jpeg

Fished for about an hour and only got one bite that happened so close to the bank that it took me by surprise and I couldn’t get the hook in em.

Disappointed I started heading back to where I parked my car and made a few more casts on my way.  Since I got bite shallow I targeted those areas with my parting casts and wouldn’t you know it, now I’m on the board in 2024.

Red Eye Shad got it done at the pond today.  Lost a really big one on the way in and a 2-3 lber on the way in but happy to have caught these ones.  Managed 4 little guys at the pond on the buzzbait at sunset.  Bite totally shut down once the sun got too low.

Cold front hit hard and had the north wind stirring everything this morning but managed to persuade a couple little guys.

Both on the red eye shad.  Gonna get out there after Jake's basketball game and see if I can't find ole Nadine.  I am pretty positive she's gonna be eating around that time.  😎😎😎🎣🎣🎣

They are moving up.  Surface temps 46.  Last week they were all 12-15.  This morning everything eating was 4-10 FOW.  Blade bait and finesse jig got smaller ones.  Biggest were on slow hopping Rage Bug.

@Choporoz That bug sure gets bit. My favorite jig trailer. Claws need to be beefed up a bit where they join the body though. I have too many bluegill/redear bite them off.

You think it hit you hard - we got 4-5 inches of snow in ~6-7hrs. Will be gone by Monday or Tuesday though. ~25°F today, ~40° tomorrow & ~50° Monday. Should be fishing Tuesday or Wednesday here. 😂

Went back to the creek.Caught my biggest so far of 2024.Not a big one compared to the bucketmouths posted here but I was happy even though I don't look it lol.

You tell him, Tim! However, I don't think of Dwight and Alex as charred pots. They shine like buffed stainless steel.

It's snowing here right now and will drop to 13 degrees tonight, but I can feel winter's grip slipping. I saw an area of open water a couple days ago on a local pond. Yeah, water that was wet!

Just one quick one before chores this morning.  Bout to head back for the sunset showdown.  Hoping to get into a bigger one.

It was fun catching one on a discontinued strike King color though.

Did a little snow bassin' this afternoon. Winter had the audacity to show itself the past two days. Except for one hard cold spell a month ago we've been very fortunate this year. Just caught three with two being counters. Kinda tricky walking the banks so was a bit limiting. Just felt good to get bit.

Nope. You didn't catch three. You caught six, with four being counters. There's a thing called Snow Math, where the snow doubles all bass caught.

Is that anything like voodoo economics?

  • Super User

Voodoo economics is make-believing. Snow math is snow real.

First double hookup in quite a while...

Ned was the key bait again.

Go figure. Fish of the day was a rainbow on a Ned. 😆

Massive high pressure dominating the eastern half of the country bringing high blue skies, light north winds, and high barometer readings. Wasn’t sure how bad it would affect things, but didn’t have my hopes too high. So I was pleasantly surprised when I got 4 keeper largemouth, 3 of them between 3-3.5 pounds and then a 16 incher. Also scored a couple more 2 lb. plus crappie.
