For boat rods, that's my preferred location for a hook keeper. I like that my tungsten weights are slapping the grip rather than the blank when in the rod locker. #Potholes #RoughWater

Never really thought of that. Good point!

Couple new toys to play with this summer. Man that MGL is the most palmable reel I've ever held!

I own 2 of those Curados (and 2 Curado DC) but don't know much about the 70 MGL. What can you tell me about the difference between them and the Curados? When you say more palmable is that because the physical size is smaller?

Absolutely. It just has a much smaller frame.  Different shape as well.  It has smaller handle knobs too but the handle length is still pretty big.

Well this one was on me and not the Monkey.....  This was to replace the Core 101MG.  Love this limited edition Metanium MG7 so far but it's not the same reel unfortunately.

Last one for a while. Now to wait for the rod & reel to arrive from preorder/backorder.

Real nice pattern.

6th sense makes a lot of nice bluegill/sunny pattern crank baits. This one has movement that is excellent, the only downside is the rattle. It would be better if it was silent. Just the hooks and split rings make enough noise by themselves, IMO.

With bluegill patterns over the last couple I’ve been getting away from my comfort zone (Rapala’s) and have been fishing a few Lucky Craft. But you are correct 6th Sense and LC have some great bluegill patterns that are not a live image impregnated on the bodies. I do not do very well with live image type stuff. Good luck with that. Caught my eye for water with a bit of a stain to it.

I have two in right hand drive.

I really enjoy my two.

How is it much different from your core? Too me, its pretty much the same reel with different paint and knobs.

Brass main gear vs aluminum gear.  The brakes are also different.  They are white and my old Core I think they were green.  I need to keep 3 or 4 on with this reel and with my Core I only used one, sometimes two.   My Core also casted further and was smoother.   With all that said, the Metanium MG7 V2 I picked up is a nice reel but I was hoping it would be as nice or better than the Core I had.

My wife said she wanted to go to Academy today to look at the clothes they had on sale.....”sure honey, I bet they have some great spring time stuff on sale”....;)

My “springtime clothes trip to Academy” went as follows:

(Pic was too big to upload)

-Two Z-man Project Z 1/2oz Chatterbaits

-One pack of Zoom Ol Monster 12” watermelon red worms

-Two H20 Xpress double willow spinner baits($2.99 each...why not?) odd but cool colors.

-War Eagle double willow spinner bait in white/chartreuse

-two plain Z-man chatterbaits one in white/chartreuse and one in brown/black/grey(3/8oz)

That sneaky little primate got me again.

Got tired of waiting for the IMX-PRO CBRs to be back in stock and found a great deal on an E6X 845. Also got three LV-500s because why not. They're really hard to find around here, it's mostly 300s and RTOs.

Oh, and 15lb InvizX for the spare spool on my jig setup, for when our water gets gin clear.

I like your color selection on those lv-500s

Since it's still 2-1/2 weeks to bass opener and the crappie are running - picked up some stuff for chasing them. Jig under bobber is what's been attracting them...so that's what I'm going with.

Thanks! There wasn't much to pick from, they only had 4 or 5 colors available so I got American Shad, Aurora Black, and TO Craw.

REAL NICE!

  • Super User

A couple of nice 5-1/2-g spoons - the white spoon is gold on the other side.

60bIRXJ.jpg

The 5.5-g plug is a hoot - Jackson Bottom Magic - it's only purpose is to make mudballs (I swapped the bronzed hooks for Owner salty).

Wish I had it at Estes in Feb when we released 45 redfish, bottom-bouncing anything we could in a tide pass.

All to fish on my BFS rig, which I just got into casting shape today.

That's a 2 g jighead, and I was consistently casting 90-100'

I found one of these a few months ago and fell in love with it. I lost it about a month ago, then one day I was walking along the bank and stopped to tie my shoe, and there was my lure, right by my foot. I caught no fish that day, but (re)finding that lure made my day.

Ken what’s in that package above the bobbers? They look like black washers.

Pack of 150 bobber stops for 4#-8# line...crappie jigging with slip-bobbers.

The one's here are 1/16 and 1/8 - I already had 1/32 and 1/4.

I looked at them just long enough to nose my way over to the fishing side of sporting goods. Just so happens.....the clothes she wanted to look at were across the aisle from the soft plastics. As soon as she had to go to the restroom, I some how managed to find myself holding all the lures I listed previously. It was almost like it was premeditated.

Been following their drops for a long time and landed a couple 9's and jokers, but I was pretty excited to finally land this one that's been at the top of my list for quite a while.
