MMM, MMM, MMM! You always bring another dimension to your latest catch pictures. Maybe you should start a thread called, "How the latest catch tasted". ?

Ironically My northern transplant wife made all that. Fried fish is quite popular where she is from in northern Ohio . You can even get fresh fish from Erie at restaurants, a little jealous that is illegal in TN (otherwise I would probably run a fish restaurant)

Those fresh jumbo perch are tough to beat.

Well this year has started tough, but I can say without a doubt that I've never caught all big 3 species of catfish by the 2nd day of the year before.  No picture of the channels, none of them were even over 2 pounds, but trust me I caught them ?

This blue was small but pretty exciting for me. I haven't caught one from this lake in years so it was good to see one.

Is that a rock bass in there? Btw I'm one of only like 3 or 4 guys around here that throws a cast net. Not a real popular method in these parts but I grew up on the Texas coast and everybody does it down there for mullet and shrimp...both for bait and to eat. Best part is my cat fishing buddies that resist it are always whining how they had to drive 25 miles and check half a dozen creeks to get enough chubs for catfish bait. I'm like huh thats funny...I drove 3 minutes, threw my net 5 times and had enough shad for 2 days....oh and I caught more cats than you cuz I didn't spend 4 hours getting bait.

Ah yes, the hated cousin of the bass family that no one really wants to associate with.

They never fight on the end of your line, but always fight when You try to grab them

First crappie of 2023. Seem like this year crappie getting smaller caught about 6, only 2 this size the rest 10-11”. I quit when a few guys tried to fish the same spot. I only fish for them just these couple months. Hopefully there are still some slab left for me ???.

for real I only kept 10-20 last year. I didn’t spend a lot of time on them, though. There are more and more ppl targeting them year round, sometimes I see the whole family along the dock and they keep everything they catch.

I went to a lake that's known for a limited Crappie population, but some real slobs the other day.  Only took 3 Crappie, but two of them were big (14" and 15.5").  Really hoping to take a 17-18" Black crappie there one of these days, but who knows if I ever will.  Far better places to fish for numbers, but not for the big ones.   You have to be willing to fish for hours with only one or two bites though.  I don't eat a lot of freshwater fish anymore, but I did bring these ones home to fillet them.  Typically I'd hope for a bunch of smaller ones rather than a few large breeders, but on this lake it's sometimes hard to find smaller Crappie and I know that there are plenty of big ones for breeding purposes.  I don't think it's a lack of breeders that are hurting the population, I suspect its the influx of other invasive species.

Looks pretty yummy. I went out ice fishing a private pond today with a buddy and between us we caught probably 50 yellow perch between 9.5 and 12 inches. Kept 5 of them to fry up for breakfast tomorrow.

P.S. cutting board looks fine to me
