How is one to know which names can and can't be used?  Is there a list to help accidentally running afoul of this policy?  I have no idea what I can't write about, other than profanity.  Don't want to get myself banned.

Just wanted to drop in and say hi to you all. I'm not as active 'round these parts anymore. Haven't bought anything in about 5 month. Haven't had the boat out in almost 5 months. Really sucks, but it'

That's a good question. Those who have been around a while may know of one or two. But it'd be a shame if someone got banned because they mention a site they had no idea was off-limits.

To my knowledge there isn’t a list. I’ve mentioned a banned thing or two not by intention and I’m still here with no ban and no naughty points so there’s no repercussions for those who mentioned a company by accident, but if you’re constantly plugging a banned site then you have it coming.

Completely agree...

I think the point is people do not know what is on that banned list

As mentioned, nobody is going to get banned from stumbling across a blacklisted name.  But if you know better, and then do it anyway, then that will will be addressed accordingly.

Ok guys, let's keep this thread on track. Moving on....

TackleDirect has SLX combos for $129.99

I heard it was going to start today, but I haven't seen anything.

Riot baits is having a 25 days of Christmas.

I see it now.  Thanks!

TBH, I was hoping a better deal on Seaguar Tatsu line. 30% off is good, but TW's original prices are pretty high. I could get better deals else where.  Still, a lot of things to look forwards to; I guess I'll get a $50 giftcard first and wait.

I really like this idea. I may do the same. ??

Amazon will have some freakish deals on large spools of Tatsu once in a while. Add the line size to your wish list and you'll see it drop once in a while.

Also TW usually does a 10% off all gift cards from Dec 26th - Jan 1st. Buy a large gift card for yourself and test your patience until 2022!

TW has 10% giftcards live now too through Jan 10th!

Ha, yea. I do that but pat myself on the back if it survives until ice-out lol.

Anyone else have a winter restock wishlist, trim it down to "necessities", then add it all to your cart and realize you gotta trim it down again haha.

Yep live now.

Some notables for me: Rico Blems are now a lottery, this is a nice change from the norm of dialing in at 12PST to constantly get a busy dial tone. Daiwa Aird X rods will be at least 30% off making one of the best budget rods out there even cheaper. Z-Man customs will be at least 30% off, almost as good as Jackhammers for about 1/4 of the price.

Haha, I don't want to torture myself; buying fishing gear is supposed to be fun. I do agree that Amazon is probably the best place for fishing line deals, crazy deals sometimes, if you're patient enough.  I just got a couple spools of 12# Tatsu for $26 per spool from else where.  How's that price compared to other Tatsu sales?  I seriously want to know.

I am also waiting on the Vicious No-fade braid on day 18. Those are very good braid and not many places carry them.

Whoa, apparently TW decided no one has the patience and GC's are 10% off now!

Wasn’t it like that last year?  I thought they were 10% off the entire month

Last year I was on the phone with them naming colors and she’d say, yeah, we still have some of those, and by the time she added it to the queue that color was all gone. Probably happened with half a dozen colors as we were trying to get my order done.

Possibly, I just remember I keep the GC email until next year, maybe just saving it for BF.

Gee, is Rico really that good? Every year I see people go crazy on them.  I don't fish poppers much and I just got a PopMax to try out next year.

I’ve never used these rod but this has me intrigued. Would these rods compare at all to a Dobyns Fury? I’ve been impressed with the Fury I bought this year.

I only have the heavy casting, and never handled a Fury. But the Fury grip looks nicer than the Aird. The Aird flex is probably pretty similar, H/F is more like  MH+/ModF than what I’m used to. I’ve read Dobyns are somewhat similar, a step lower and slower in power/action. I’m getting them as spare rods for guests in my boat that don’t have gear for heavy cover. They are great for the money though and I wouldn’t hesitate to fish them if I was limited in options.

I think @MN Fisher has both Fury and Airds so maybe he can chime in.

Fury vs Aird-X

I'll use a Fury 704C vs an Aird-X 7' MH/F - the line/lure stats are identical so we're comparing apples to apples.

  • Fury is a little softer in the tip - the Aird-X is a bit 'crisper'...I'd call the Fury a MF-F where the Aird-X is closer to a F-XF
  • Aird-X is lighter than the Fury - 4.19oz vs 5.51oz...measured on my digital scale.
  • I prefer the Fury cork/EVA handles to the all EVA of the Aird-X - just something about cork.
  • Fury is more sensitive - I can feel the bottom better with it.

I still plan on using both - the Fury for bottom contact with a Patriarch 7.1 and the Aird-X for moving baits (spin/chatter/buzz) with a Patriarch 7.9.

They're good quality baits for sure, both the poppers and their walking baits. I don’t feel like they’re overpriced at their normal price if that helps. I think it’s just the super deep discount that drives the frenzy - baits that are normally $25 are suddenly 3 for $25 so people go nuts.

Have you received yours yet? My SIL ordered one on the 27th and hasn't heard a peep since.
