How picky are you with your fishing hats (or hats in general, I guess)?

The only kind of hat I wear is a L/XL FlexFit, and they tend to have the mesh back. That's the only hat I've found that really fits well. "One size fits all" does not apply to me

  • This thread just reinforces the adage; "Buy a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he'll buy a silly hat"

  • I think  the flat bills are down right goofy looking .

  • And on the other end of the melon size scale, I have to wear a 'youth' hat because I have a peanut size squash. And the color options available are always a just a little bit zany . . .

I have a big ol noggin, and the bill on trucker hats umis usually smaller and looks odd on me. I opt for a fitted flat bill hat when I can.

No option for snapback or hook and loop closure so I picked flex-fit. I wear trucker style when the weather is 90+ degrees here.

I wear a ball cap when fishing. Not the best choice for sun protection as they don't cover your ears. I can't bring myself to wear a bucket hat. I hope my vanity doesn't cost me dearly someday.

Thank goodness for buffs. They help cover the areas a ball cap misses.

I wear a 'ball cap'..a few different ones....can't say I know the differences....one says Mojo Bass....one has a Green Bay 'G', another has Siebert 'SO'... I just call 'em ball caps

I've got two trucker style. One is a mesh back, Blue Oyster Cult - got at a concert I went to back in '83. Second is a full coverage, St. Paul Saints, our local AAIPB baseball team.

Columbia Flexfits, L/XL...because I've got a noggin that weighs more than your PB.

I have to have an adjustable hat because XL isn't big enough for my head.

I voted "Trucker style" but I really don't know the differences in the hats you listed. I call it a "ball cap". Adjustable snap back and a hole to stick my ponytail/man bun through. I have a couple hats, but my lucky fishing cap is a camouflage Chicago Bears hat with a red/white/blue redneck hook ornament on the bill. Snazzy........

Either a ball cap or a full brim hat .  I bought the Outdoor Research  Sombriolet   last year .  I'm pleased with it .

I've got about a dozen of what is referred to as "baseball caps', some are fitted, some aint. Mesh back for summer & thicker solid material for cooler weather.

Colors: Ole School Vietnam Era woodland camo, Realtree marsh pattern, & Desert Storm pattern. Along with Saints & LSU hats plus your normal solid Reds, blues, & white.

Oh yeah the bill has to be formed to my sunglasses!

Aint no flat bill cap ?

To many hats to mention, since I wear a hood on the suniest of days, some version of truckers hat.  For overcast I have a few jungle soft floppy wide brims

For those that are interested:

Trucker hat = Mesh backed baseball cap

Flexfit = Baseball cap with a nylon band that gives the hat a fitted look.

Flat brimmed = Baseball cap with a flat, not curved brim

Snapback = Baseball cap with a plastic band on the back that snaps closed to loosen or tighten

Hook and loop = Baseball cap with a Velcro band to loosen or tighten

I spent to much time and money in Lids...

I'm not particular to one style of hat, but there are two styles of hats that I avoid.

Flat bill and snap backs.

I gotta wear one because of my balding head. But there's not a "lucky" one for me.

Same here! Years ago I bought this tool to put a curve in any brim.

I can't stand anything tight across my face, but I'm mindful of skin cancer so I wear this hat. Looks funny, but it works.

Nothing looks goofier to me that a guy with a flat bill hat on and his ears tucked under the hat.

I almost didn't see you there.

My favorite hat. You can judge for yourself if it's lucky or not.
