No choice between spinning and bait casting tackle?

Well. you lost me. If those were the only choices of hook that I had, I'd give up fishing for bass, that's for sure.   jj

Meh, I'd still go fishing.  You probably would too.  Don't lie. :P

No Tom. I'm not going to get super granular on this, as the choices would be endless.

The question comes down to hook type, 7' MHF is a given with today's bass anglers.

While it leads in the poll now, there's a big 6-8 M constituency.

It would be leading if specific to spinning tackle, 7' MH will lead overall for casting tackle.

Finding out what the majority wants isn't always the goal of a survey. ;)

I think most anglers these days learn to fish for bass on this setup since most entry level combos come in with this variation.

I choose a 6'8" rod since a 6'6" choice wasn't offered.

7'3" MH-F would be my top choice for "most" bass fishing applications.

But I definitely couldn't live without my 7'4" and 7'6" HEAVY-Fast rods. They're used more often than any other rod I own but for less techniques if that makes any sense.

Makes perfect sense to me.   jj

well that fell right into my will house. My favorite rod is a dx 784 hp.

Look like I got all the choices right!!!!!!

What did I win? Lmao

I also chose a 6'8" because there was no 6'6" choice

I guess I looked at this a different way. I looked at the choices and thought, "Do people really use soft plastics all that much?". Once @J Francho prodded my slow old brain, I realized that straight shank hooks can be used on spinnerbaits. That saved me.    jj

I’d be curious to see where preferences fall based on ones age group. I cut my bass fishing teeth using short (5’6”) broom handle stiff rods, straight shank hooks and heavy line. My grandson likes the longer (7’6”) rods, EWG hooks and light line.  My current preferences are somewhere in between.

I went with a H powered rod for this one. Lots of modern H powered rods have a soft enough tip that I can still launch 1/4oz baits. Having the Heavy powered rod allows me to fish heavier baits and frogs, while still being able to throw a 1/4oz jig or crankbait.

As for the hook question, lately I find myself preferring a jig over a texas rig if I'm pitching/flipping. So I went with the offset shank, because it kinda gives me the best of both worlds.
