I have a crazy situation. Got a new power recliner, when I get up from the recliner, it will turn the TV off for a second. I have checked all the outlets, no floating neutrals, replaced all dimmers, light switches, and wall outlets. It even does it on circuit that the TV is not on. Also sometimes when you plug it in the TV will go off. I ordered a power conditioner to see if that will help. I also called the store and have a service call in.

Did you recently lose a remote for the TV and are they all accounted for ?

Is it happening anywhere else in the house, or just that one room?

so does the tv go off or the cable box restarts? if the tv went off, you would need to turn it back on, correct? Im thinking the cable box is on the same circuit as the recliner.

Sounds like the perfect rig for napping in front of the tv. 

Well I changed every wall outlet and light switch, removed the dimmers. Also brought a TV from another room to test Same issue, also tested every outlet to see if there was an bad leg. Still same results. The cable box stays on. I have a service call scheduled. I personally think there is some sort of issue with chair. It is now unplugged just in case it is a short and starts a fire.

Does the recliner have a bluetooth connection, say for speakers or for an app that can work the chair controls?

Just a USB port.

So when the 2nd TV is plugged into the same outlet as the 1st TV it goes off too? Is the cable box plugged into the same outlet? This one has me curious..

So... I'd disconnect everything from the TV except the power first, and try it.  If it turns off the TV, then run an extension cord to the kitchen, bathroom, whatever-is-on-a-different-breaker-than-the-chair and plug the TV into that. Then try again.

 

If it still does it, then it's RF interference.  Something isn't shielded correctly in the chair motor.

 

If at any point before that it stops turning the TV off, then it's a power issue with the chair motor.

 

Either way, I'd replace the chair motor.

Yes it does.,  I also have a new recliner couch that is plugged into the same circuit without issues. I also tested each outlet with a receptacle tester to make sure there wasn't any issues, all tested good.

That is what I think, Since it is a brand new chair, I put a request in for a service call. 

Until it's fixed I'd make myself a hat. ... tin foil

 

I'm just having fun with this... sorry, it is a real problem for you but it's also sort of a bizarre thing too. It evokes twighlight zone thinking. I certainly hope you solve this issue. It must be maddening for you.

 

Speaking of maddening. Tin foil hat and I'd move all my kitchen knives to another location until it's fixed.

It really has the wife ticked, since the chair was over 1000 bucks, The bait monkey could have had some high end food

If this happened in our home.  My wife would be telling me to call the repair man and I would be saying no way,  I've GOT to figure this out.

Believe me I have tried to figure it out. There more I try the more the wife gets ticked.

It is just that chair, the new recliner sofa on same circuit doesn't do it. I will find out Tues when the tech comes out

 

UPDATE

Tech was here today, changed power pack and tried different outlets still same issue. Thinks it may be a wiring harness, had to order parts. Tech also said he has been doing this for long time and has never seen anything like this. He saw it first hand and couldn't believe it. 

This has been a crazy one- hope you get it worked out or they replace the chair with a new one
