Sun Gloves?

Featured Replies

I'm looking to pick-up another pair of sun gloves before the season here starts. I'm looking for open finger tips, seams that won't unravel under use and something that won't leave a gap between the glove and my shirt sleeve (my only knock on my current pair). Looking for recommendations and possibly suppliers of same.

Pretty sure the ones I use are simms and I've had good luck from them. They've lasted 3 or 4 years so far and they're still in good shape. No experience with any other I'm sure someone will chime in. Good luck

I really like Fish Monkey gloves. The best I've tried.

After trying many gloves from different companies, I can't say enough about the Simms SolarFlex Sun gloves.  Comfortable fit, long wrist coverage, open palm for better grip, and UPF 50 protection. They even make a bugstopper version to keep the insects away.

Here's a video I made that shows the gloves and how they fit. I even cued it up to that spot:

I've never tried sun gloves before. But after a skin cancer scare I'm going to start. I like the open palm on those.

I use Glacier Glove. I like having a little grip on the palm versus it being open.

The nice feature with the Simms gloves is the extra material on the palm side for the middle and pointer finger. Great for grabbing your line.

My kids gave me the $16 Rock fish gloves from academy. Not what I would have picked but they’ve been surprisingly great.

Fish monkey half finger guide glove (stay away from.the stubby) or glacier glove islamorada have both worked well for me.

I went to Menards and looked at the glove selection and bought a tight form fitting nylon upper with a good rubberish palm.

At home i cut the fingers down to a non intrusive comfort, lure handling and tying length.

Then i take a lighter and melt the material around the cut fingers to stop any unraveling of the thread material. Cost me $7.00.

My gloves never come off unless i am taking a break to eat a sandwich.

The Simms solarflex guide gloves are top notch IMHO.

I have a pair of Simms that are nice but I’m not fond of the palms not having material on them.  Others I have are some Outdoor Research ones off Amazon that are super lightweight and have rubber nubs on the palms that help with my grip. I also got another pair off Amazon called Magreel?  Haven’t gotten to use them yet but they have a leathery material on the palm and under the index and middle fingers. They feel nice though.

My Kastking gloves have survived three seasons and many many washings and are still going strong

Same here and they’re priced right.

I have a few pairs of the KastKing gloves and they've been really nice. The reinforced palms have saved me more than once from sharp finned fish.
