I need recommendations for a good pair of split ring pliers. Need to change some spinner bait blades and the cheap pair I have won’t even work.

I had gamigatsu smaller size, it was very good till I lost it, and I got this one which I found is for bigger split rings, So make sure you get the right size, because bigger ones cant open up small rings easy.

I find that a precision flat head screw driver works better than a split ring plier for those thin rings on spinnerbaits. You can also use a fingernail. 

I've had these for 10+ years and have worked well. I've been using the Medium size.

 

Agree that Texas Tackle makes good split ring pliers.  

I also use Texas Tackle but I have the chrome "Executive" model. I don't know which one is better haven't tried the regular model. I just ordered mine online after seeing so many good reviews of Texas Tackle. They are easy to use.

i have split ring pliers but when i need to open it wider i use a knife blade.

 

I use a  four dollar pair from Wal-Mart's craft aisle. More precise than anything fishing specific that I've tried.

It’s hard to tell from the photo if they are small enough.

I think that’s why mine won’t work. The split rings are small. I need the find a split ring size and treble hook size chart to print out and laminate for the boat.

Something about those Texas Tackle pliers makes them take split rings off easier.  I carry a some aluminum job with me fishing, but they certainly can mess a split ring up, but in a pinch they do.

Mine are the orange ones. I was off on the price but I've had them for quite a while.

I use Xuzon pliers. It works for my tiny split ring.

Yeah I’m going to try the orange ones as well.

Think I’ll buy a pair of Texas tackle pliers for the boat too.

Texas Tackle is the only way to go

Xuron model 496 are the best I’ve found to date.  They handle the size 2 oval shaped split rings and that’s pretty small

I have a pair of these except they're re-branded by Piscifun. Literally the exact same thing down to the holster and lanyard. Good pliers.
