What setup or setups have you settled on for throwing the deadly nedly? I have a couple but my favorite is a 6'10" 13 fishing omen black medlight extra fast...1000 size Daiwa Revros...10lb power pro to 6lb yo Zuri hybrid leader.

I liked my loomis SJR or MB Adermine.  Both on 1000 vanford.

Old school Cabela's branded rod, Fish Eagle Classic IM6 | 6'-6" | Med | 6-12lb |  1/8-1/2oz with a Cabela's branded spinning reel | 2000a.

 

Line is bright yellow PowerPro 10lb braid, to a 10lb fluoro leader. I have a NED tied on this rod 100% of the time...seems to work well for me.

Astute company here.  My all-range Valleyhill ROC-67MMM with a Daiwa SV and BFS-mod spool does this work at its light end perfectly, and a handy single all-range set-up on a kayak.  Extreme feel through this rod.  

My braid is YGK PE#1 (0.19 mm), and because of the all-range, my leader is YGK Hard, #3 (15-lb).  

Original poster's setup sounds very good.  Mine is similar, but 7 feet in length.  The major issue is that you need a rod that will load well in casting the light jigs, and you need light enough line to cast well with the light jigs.  Braid of about 10 pound test is ideal, IMHO.  I personally think a leader lighter than about 10 pounds is too fragile and I do very well in clear water with up to 15 FC.

When I went braid to leader I thought that the leader may be to light. But I've landed drum, catfish and carp with no breakage issues. If they don't snap it no largemouth will.

Tried a bunch, but have settled on just one. Shimano Clarus 6’6” ML w/Lew’s Mach 1 SS (200) spooled with 10#-14# YGK SS112 and 8# leader (mono). 

My setup is very similar to yours. 6’10 ML/XF Mojo Bass with a size 30 President XT (which is comparable to most 25’s out there). I got 10# braid on there usually to an 8# mono or fluoro leader. 

I fish Ned light - Mitchell Avocet RZT-1000 with 6# InvizX on a Diawa Procyon 7' Light/Fast.

I'm headed out later this morning and will be throwing Ned Rigs on 6lb. mono spooled on a Daiwa PXL-R on a Major Craft Volkey VKC-68L rod and 8 lb. braid/8lb. mono leader spooled on a Daiwa 20 Alphas Air TW on a Tsurinoya Pro Flex II C632UL.

My Ned setup is Conquest 842C with Antares dc21 and tatsu 10lb line.

BPS Carbonlite 2.0 6'8" M-XF paired with a Shimano Stradic FL 2500 currently 20lb braid to leader, but will replace with 10lb braid soon. Leader varies but 6-10lb mono is my standard.

I have a BFS set up I find I actually get longer/smoother casts than spinning (less line slap when casting):

I used to dread the Ned, with this set up I have a hard time putting it down now...

It was a Fury 702sf with a Daiwa Legalis 2500, but now it's a Sierra 693sf with a Shimano Sahara 2500.

 

Why? Dobyns rods run lighter than the rod label says, and while some say this only applies to the casting rods and not the spinning rods, I disagree. As far as the reel, well that's only because the Sahara is beautiful on the Sierra.

7'2" ML fast rainshadow Immortal with microwave guides and winn grips. Have a 3000 Kastking Zephyr (its actually smaller than a Daiwa crossfire 2000) on it with 15lb 832 and a 14lb sniper leader. This thing handles a 1/15th ned weight with a standard TRD perfectly. 

Use 2 setups for ned’s

 

Loomis glx 892c with a aldebaran  w/8 lb sniper. 

St Croix legend elite light spinning with pfluger patriarch

Cheap. And they work great.

Been trying a curado bfs on a phenix 7'1 feather light with 10lb flourescent yellow j braid with 8 lb invisx leader and so it's great.

What size Neds are you throwing on that 842 MBR? I’m highly considering that rod in a NRX+ or IMX and the Ned rig would be one of the techniques I would be using.

New BPS branded Fish Eagle Rod, 7', ML with 10lb, bright yellow 832 and a 6lb fluoro leader.  I'm using a Daiwa Regal LT 2000 with it.  

 

So it seems we're not far off.

This one, I think 1/16oz , I use few of them ill double check the weights and get back to you.
