Here's a few of my attempts to make my own Jackhammer. I think the blue one gets me the closest.

No photo description available.

Did you match the slim blade of the Jackhammer?

Really liking that new fluid bed @fishballer06!

I really need to try some of those dredge hooks. I have a few in some football jigs, but I rarely throw those.

Did my last batch of brown this afternoon. (unless I lose too many this year) Took it low and slow on the baking this time and there was no change in color. The garage floor showed that durability was achieved also.

I was wanting more of the orange to show through. Black Orange Crustation Barbed Wire #496 (https://fishingskirts.com/product/black-orange-crustation-bw-496-752/) Hot Tiger Craw Ventilated "Air Trap" #727 (https://www.lurepartsonline.com/Ventilated-Air-Trap-Skirt-Material?quantity=1&custcol18=388

Outstanding color scheme.  I would throw that all day long in my region.

My first segmented crankbait with a cloth hinge that sort of hides the segmentation. There's a video of the build... I also do my first fly tying. Well, actually a trailer treble hook fly. It came out sorta okay for my first fly. I can always exchange it if I make a better one.

Getting bored so made some Arkie jigs.  That summer craw pattern is new color I bought off eBay from jig junkie.  Started having success late summer with the summer craw colors with plastic so I decided to do some jigs.

trying something different with green and white arkies for dirty or chocolate milk water.  Black colors seems only to work for me in clear water. blue I have not been able to go at all.  So I’m hoping the green flake and white will work in dirty water

also the water melon jig and skirts.  The silver heads with black and silver will be made into chatter baits.

still thinking I’m buying a swim jig, swim bait, and  chatter bait mold

My first Rattle jerkbait. I like how this one turned out. I made everything on it... woohoo! Wonder if it will catch fish?

This is... number 5 or 6 I think. Still tryin'

Another bait leaves the shop. This one is a Roach bait. A fish only seen in Europe and Asia as I understand it. But it looked so good I had to make one.

After making a handful of baits I think this one came out great. New skills with this one, more detailed carving and use of  fluorescent paints. As usual, everything is handmade, the body, the eyes, eyelets, etc. The video on this one is only fifteen minutes long.

New bait... strange one this time. Fashioned (very loosely) after a Goa'uld symbiote from Stargate SG-1 (a TV show with 10 seasons under it's belt). Just having some fun.... Wonder if the Bass watch that show? If they do they won't get near it.

You can view the build video here

Skunk Fly with a little help from Walmart

Okay, don't laugh.... I tied my first fly today just for the fun of it.  It took about 30 minutes so you can see not a whole lot of effort put in on my part. I'm actually not much of a fly fisherman.  I had eyes around that I use on my hardbaits. And a rusty hook the right size in the bottom of my tackle box. The rest of the stuff pretty much came from the craft area at Walmart. The head has a drop of UV resin on it to hold things together. Just thought I'd try it so see what happens.

The wife has already christened it the "skunk fly".  She finds the humor in a lot of things... mostly me. She also says it looks like Beaker on the muppets.

You're laughing aren't you......?

I went a bit insane at the recent fishingskirts.com sale, should have enough 1/4oz jigs to last me a few seasons.  I am working one three colors, a GP baitfish, a Blue/Black, and a GB/Amber.

The GP Baitfish needs another half tab on top, the one pictured is just a proof of concept.  No idea why everything is upside down.

This is my first attempt at a bluegill pattern.

I overcomplicated the build and will tone it down in the future.

I put the Rage tail on the back to act like a tail.  I'm curious how that will run.

I'm thinking about cutting down the wire form and making a chatterbait out of it.  A couple twists at the nose secures the blade nicely.  I've never had one fail if there are at least two full twists.

My first fly with real materials. Not great, but a good start. With better feather choices I think I can do better.

I've dressed treble hooks and tied bass jigs, but I've never tied a fly. I think your creation looks good. If you plan on really getting into this hobby I would recommend a rotating vise, it will make your tying experience much more enjoyable. Have you checked out Barlows Tackle for material? I get hackle from them and the prices are good as well as the material.

Yes, the rotating vise thing would be nice. I figured I'd tie a few before I made that move. If I got one I'd want to get a better one but need to be sure the expense will be used. They seem to come in two varieties. Very low priced and very high priced. I'd imagine there must be a difference.

Thanks for the barlows tip. It's hard to decide where some decent stuff is just from looking at pictures online.

I've used a couple and am now using a Griffin Spider. They say it will take a 4/0 hook, but I've found it will hold a 5/0 no problem. Griffin has been making vises for years and if a part breaks they will replace it. I think I got mine on sale for $75 and my brother picked one up for $68 during the Black Friday sales. Once you use a vise with the rotating feature you'll never use another.
