Dedicated worm rod

Featured Replies

I’m looking for a specific rod for my wife.
It will be used exclusively for Texas rigged worms. Prefer 7’ or so, MH action and less than $200. Trying to keep her combo as light ( weight not action) as possible. Reel will be a Daiwa 70 series she already has.

I’ve looked at a lot of the sticky posts but most are 4-5 years old.
Thanks guys.

My T-Rig rod is a MH XF 7’1” Phenix Feather. Weighs just a tad over 3 ounces! Light, sensitive, strong backbone. Extra Fast tip good to “feel” the rig in/around cover. $150-170 ish won’t break the bank.

Falcon Lowrider ($130) or Expert ($200).  Falcons tend to fish a bit light so you might want to consider a Heavy power.  iRod Genesis 7' MHF rated 3/16-3/8 oz., but I emailed iRod and was assured the rod fished as a true MH.  I'm assuming the rating is for the lead only and does not include weight of the hook, blades, trailers, etc.  Fishes a 1/2 oz. spinnerbait just fine.

I was also going to suggest the Phenix Feather.  Reviews all say they fish light so go one power heavier than normal.

Don't want to derail, but have been looking at the Feather 7'7'XH as a weedless 6" magdraft, scottsboro, etc swimbait rod w/ a double duty flip or punch.  You have any experience?

I use a Expride 7'3"XH now.  Looking for a longer version to compliment.

That’s crazy light for a 7’1 under $200

Falcon expert 6’10” 5 power.  Called the topwater/finesse jig. Incredibly light, super sensitive.  Casts or pitches a 1/8 oz and a small worm just fine. I have an abu mgx on mine for a featherweight combo.  Great rod.

The Expert 6’10 6 power is my favorite rod. I have 3. It’s my go to chatterbait and spinnerbait rod but I also throw finesse jigs and light texas rig with them

I have the 6 power in the bucoo sr.  I don’t prefer it for chatterbaits or spinnerbaits but it’s my primary jig pitching rod and I rarely don’t have a jig tied onto it. If I’m somewhere I need multiple chatterbaits then it does double duty and I image it will be pretty good for heavier swim jigs.

Is the worm slime hard to remove completely ?       ☺️

Falcon Expert 7’ mh all around.  Good rod for 3/16-3/8 texas rig .

My primary T rig rod is a Falcon Lowrider MH/F.

Look at this rod it's a perfect fit for what you are looking for. My granddaughter has one & loves it. She is not a kid she is a nurse that loves to fish thanks to grandpa. Dobyns Kaden Casting Rod 7' 1" M/H  T/W has it in stock for $179.99. She has a Shimano Scorpion 70 XG on it.

I have  Powel Endurance that I like also daiwa Taula is great.

Buy here the expensive worm rod you have always wanted.  She will appreciate the fact, that you bought her the best, and she may let you use it on the days she can't go fishing with you.

If she can handle the blasphemy of pairing Diawa with Shimano, take a look at the new Curado rods. IIRC they're essentially the previous model Zodias which I was very impressed with how light it was. They've got a 7' MH and a 7'2" MH depending on whether she prefers a fast or extra fast action.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I’m learning towards the St Croix Tom mentioned so far.

Aaron, most of my rods are mix and match so that won’t be a problem ?
