Yes.

I normally use 12 pound mono for pretty much everything, including deep cranking.

Ok cool. 12 lb red label fc is what’s on It now. But my son and wife use my stuff and once they backlash It a few times it’s getting kinks and breaking. Thought maybe mono would help with that and be a little more resilient. Was thinking 10 to still try and get the depth being that mono floats. 
I have some 12 big game I’ll use if It works though.

Mostly 10, but sometimes 8 or 12, If I really need to get deep I'll go to braid and leader, but I avoid braid as much as possible.

I always thought it was 12 but I'm not positive. In general, I would say 10 for all around.

I throw the wiggle wart/ Rk Crawler on 8. Back in the day we used 6 on a casting rod but it always made me nervous.

Not sure. Just always read on the forums to use fluoro since It sinks. 

Suffix advance monofilament in 10 lb. Not too pricey and works well in my humble opinion.

Use whatever line will get your lure to the depth you want to fish it at. Thinner diameter will dive deeper, larger diameter will get more of your lures back.

BG is underrated and large diameter for it's claimed test. 8# BG is 10# lots of other mono. I wouldn't be a bit afraid to crank with 8# BG.

Sounds like trial and error that I don’t have time for.

A sinking line has no effect on a crankbait. It's not lead core.  It being wound onto the reel as you are cranking and is pulling up on the bait as it pulls down with the bill.  It's not a weightless plastic sinking on slack line as we would normally associate with the line keeping the bait down.

Anyone who trolls will yell you that.  Its all about diameter when talking about depth.

Well I lied. Asked my daughter to grab the line for me. Stripped the 12lb fc off, started putting the big game on and thought dang, this 8lb big game is larger diameter than the 12lb fc. 
Finished It up and looked at the spool as I put It away. 12lb big game. 
 

Ill run with It for a while cuz I’m too lazy to pull It back off. 

I use 10lb quite a bit but 13lb Defier is my favorite.  I have also been trying some Sunline FC but the jury is still out on this experiment. 

 

 

I've got Sufix Advance 10# on my cranking rods and have been very happy with it.  Good price, easy to manage, casts well and doesn't float like standard mono.  I've also had good luck keeping fish pinned with it on a both a M/f and a MH/moderate casting rod.

 

Published diameter of the Sufix Advance 10# is .012”, so about the same as the published diameter of (for example) Sunline FC Sniper 14# at 0.0122”, so shouldn't cost too much (if anything) on diving depth.    

It's rare that I even use a crankbait, but when I do, it's on 12lb Berkley sensation.

I use 12# Sufix Siege for Crankbaits, Spinnerbaits, and topwaters. I use 12# or 14# floro for bottom contact baits.

12lb BG was my go-to until I started regularly grinding my cranks through sharp rocks. I now use sniper, and I'm considering shooter. If you aren't concerned about abrasion, mono will treat you well.

When people online are discussing.....anything, where they're located probably makes a big difference.   As I stated earlier I use 12 pound mono for pretty much everything including deep cranks.   I rarely fish in a lake or area where I "need" a crankbait to go 30 feet deep.   Some people fish in areas/lakes where they may need every inch of depth possible.   For me, if I'm deep cranking if a DT16 doesn't go deep enough I'll put on a Dredger 25.5, or an XD10.
