Palomar for everything.  I can tie it in a few seconds...after spending several minutes trying to get my line through the eye (bad vision).

SDJam on mono, Alberto for mono to braid.

I used the Improved Clinch for years, but would occasionally have failures. They were rare, but I never could figure out why they were happening, so I switched to SDJam and haven’t had those type problems.

I use the Uni for tying skirts. I like it. I occasionally use the Non-slip loop knot for some things.

I used Palomar at one time, but I thought it used up too much leader too.

Never tried FG because it looks too complicated. Using up leader with terminal knots means you’re going to be retying that leader knot more often. For that reason I want to stick with the easier knot (Alberto).

Maybe you should look at using clips?

My go to knot is the San Diego Jam for everything except snaps and drop shot hooks. I use a cloths pin for weight on hooks to tie SD Jam knot. Palomar (Indian knot) usually for drop shot ends with the hook stand up if you start the line through the hook eye with bend/point facing away. 

Rarely use braid with leader, only with Senko’s, and use the Alberto knot to join leaders.

Used the Perfection loop (Mexican knot) for live bait salt water fishing for decades, only loop I will tie.

FG knot for braid to leader,

Improved clinch for anything over 10#,

Rapala loop for hardbaits without ring,

Palomar for anything under 10#.

The uni knot is my favorite. I can tie it in the dark and it’s strong 

Arbor to spool, uni to uni to join lines if needed, and trilene to lure. 5-6 wraps for mono and fluoro and 7-8 wraps for braid. I leave an 1/8-1/4 inch tag end just in case. The trilene is pretty easy to tie, doesn't waste a lot of line, is strong, and the tag end isn't facing forward.

I typically use the palomar, but occasionally I am running out of room on my leader and want to switch to something that doesn't use up so much line (especially on long top water lures like super spook jr). I have tried several in the past and just need to narrow it down to two knots so that I can be more proficient with them. I have gotten pretty good at the fg knot so I like that for joining braid to leader, so now I just need to get one more lure knot.  
So what's your favorite? palomar, San Diego jam, improved clinch, uni, alberto...

My favorite knot is the uni knot. It is easy to tie, strong, and reliable. The uni to uni knot is my favorite for leaders. Have caught lots of big fish this way, both in freshwater and saltwater.

FG if I tie leader at home but on the water I just use Uni knots to retie leaders.  I mostly use a Davy knot to tie my baits on.  I use it for trout fishing and found it to be strong so use it for bass fishing as well but will use improved Clinch also.  Lastly I do Rapala knots for baits I want to have more freedom.

FG for braid to floro leader and Palomar for the lure.

Trilene knot is the one that I can get the shortest tag end  <1” but hard to clinch properly with FC line. I switch to uni and never be happier and still get pretty short 1-2” which sometimes I don’t even cut the tag end off. I use uni knot for most everything, terminal knot for all type line, connection knot for every combination of line. Just for once a while especially with stiff FC line I will switch to Palomar knot.

I use a trilene knot.  It might use more line length than you're wanting to use.  I've used a palomar but my opinion is it's too strong.   If you break off a lure with a palomar knot it's not going to break at the knot.  You may lose a bunch of line.   A trilene knot tied properly won't slip, but it will break right at the knot, unless there's a weak place elsewhere in the line.  I read an article a while back that called it something like a 95% knot.    

Interesting perspective...I like it! I've definitely experienced losing too much line and I hate leaving line in the water.

Guess I don't get "wasting line". I cut off at least a foot anytime I retie.

Only time I care is when I have a leader.  

All the knots listed above work great if ties properly
