I forgot one on my list…Gator……but not Gator tail, I’ve had my share of Gator tail but when I lived in Florida, I had a friend harvest a 13ft Gator and in addition to gifting me a 5gal bucket of Gator meat, he smoked Gator ribs on the grill and they were delish.  Local Jacksonville residents know about Clark’s Fish Camp where you can get a lot of exotic dishes from snake to emu.

That looks so incredible. Looks like if a chicken breast was made out of filet mignon.

Some ducks are decent.  Mallards like you showed are usually pretty good because they're grain eaters.  I don't duck hunt anymore now but I always shot a fair amount of them, plus wood ducks and teal, when I went.  Wasn't a whole lot to eat on a woody or teal though compared to a mallard.

Its the diving ducks that were down right nasty.  Luckily I never harvested that many of them.  Bluebills, redheads, ringnecks, etc.  They would swim to the bottom and eat sh**.  Course, you know what they tasted like...

Yeah I’ve never known anyone to shoot a diving duck, I’ve heard it was gross and I’ll take their word for it

Even a Mallard is nasty if you cook it wrong.  By wrong I mean, over cooked.  It’s super liver flavored over cooked.

cooked like above its great.  Without the occasional pellet, I could almost fool my wife. :)

Wife and I both love wild game, except duck. Idk

Best I've had was mule deer taken in the black hills SD.

All you folks who don't care for duck...try a recipe for duck & andouille gumbo...it may change your mind ??

I enjoy just about everything that walks swims or crawls but I guess I’d choose deer as that has always been my most commonly ate regular woods feed.

I’ve been waiting for you to chime in. But you did disappoint me. I was waiting for opossum or muskrat ?????

My hilljack taxidermist is fond of canned muskrat. Might be good, but I have no interest in finding out. Elk steaks are the best wild meat I've ever had, but my local whitetails are pretty darn tasty in their own right, as are saugeye, and wabbits. Grouse are awesome but we don't have many left around here anymore.

I went waterfowl hunting for the first time yesterday and I have a new favorite wild game. This Mallard tasted like steak! I'm hooked!

Mallards are some of the best eating ducks out there. They mostly eat grain, so they have a less gamey taste than some other ducks.

The diving ducks that swim to the bottom and eat sh** taste like, well, you get the point.

I think the divers stick mainly to the lakes so I'll just stick to hunting ponds.

I don't believe anyone has mentioned Bear.  It's good if it's cooked right.   I've had it several times.  I didn't cook it,  I believe the friend who cooked it put it in a pressure cooker for a while, then cooked it in a crock pot.

I had rattlesnake once.  It was OK.  I don't drink anymore, so I doubt I'll be eating any more rattle snake.

Blue Heron?!

Oh gosh, that reminded me of a good game warden joke. The game warden comes across a guy cooking a blue heron over fire. He informed him that is illegal and he’s going to write him a ticket. The man pleaded his case, and says he is poor and starving, so the game warden gives him a reprieve. Before he leaves, he asks the man what the heron taste like. He replies just about like a bald eagle……..

Here in Central Florida, Sandhill cranes are all over the place.  They are arrogant birds that will walk right across the road in front of you.  A century ago, these birds were nearly wiped out by early settlers.  I heard they were good eating. Now I know.  ?

I see a fair amount of them here in MN in the fall and spring too.  They sound like a velociraptor.

There is a very limited season on them in far northwest MN.  And I think the Dakotas have a longer season.  Given the chance, I would try one.

We have a season as well as the hiwassee refuge that has thousands and thousands. You should watch some slow mo vids of them being hunted if you’ve never seen it, they can take a licking (or 3) and keep on ticking
