Had to do a double take , what a beaut ?

My very first car was a 1970 Nova with a 307.

I jacked it up, installed headers and of course Cragars. Lol

Never won a race with that car.

Thank You!

My dad always called it, “three on the tree.”  Meaning the gearshift on the steering column.

The instrument panel.  Everything back then was displayed by gauges, nothing was digital.

That GOAT your's?

No seat belts in the back seat and no shoulder belts in the front.

Rear dash not big enough for a kid to sleep on.

No rear facing seats in the station wagon.

No full size spare.

No vertical jack.

Uncluttered, easy to work on engine compartment.

Nice! I had a '66 4 speed in the same color with a black vinyl top in high school. I miss everything about that car except the non-powered drum brakes. Had to stand on the pedal to get it to stop. Haha.

Yep, I’ve had it fir 32 yrs and it’ll still snap you back in the seat.

All numbers matching.

Nope, none of that stuff

The truck is big enough that you could lay down in it.
The seat belts were a 32.00 option!

I’ll bet you miss it!!
The rear drums were like that.
Mine came with power brakes with metallic shoes that helped, but you still had to get into them pretty hard

I'm not a purest. Doesn't matter to me if numbers are matching. The old muscle car styling is what appeals to me. I was driving home from work today and saw an old split bumper Camaro on a flatbed. I had to turn my head. Had a buddy growing up with a 1970 GTO Judge. Crazy how fast and unsafe that car really was. If and when I have enough spare change to get a muscle car or two, a shoebox Nova, a 67-69 Camaro, a 72 Cutlass convertible, or a 72 Catilina is in my sights. The next door neighbor of one of my coworkers has a 72 Catilina convertible sitting in his driveway. It was his dad's and it hasn't moved since his dad passed away. I made a blind offer a couple months ago and the guy won't sell.

Scary thing is, I understand all of that. LOL

I'm surprised nobody has said "Distributer" or "Coil" yet.  Or foot-controlled high-beam switch.

I had a '74 stock Camaro with a 4-bolt main 350. Removed everything vacuum-controlled, Installed Edelbrock headers, manifold, and double-pumper, K&N filter, Mallory Ignition, double-roller timing chain, 0.030-inch overbore with a 3.75 stroke (yep, made it a 383), roller rockers, dyno-tuned, torque bars, BF Goodrich Radial T/A's, and of course, Cragers.  LOL

Had the gas-behind-the-license-plate and foot-controlled high-beam switch too.  :)

Four on the floor & a 5th under the seat!

I was 20 years old before I sat in a new car.  What I remember was carrying a jug of water in your trunk so you could fill your radiator after a boil over.  ☺️

Transmission selection buttons on the dash ~

btw - I hate not having an emergency brake pedal to mash at the boat ramp.

New truck has a dash button.

But after going on two years I'm still stomping on the floor looking for it !

A-Jay

Our ‘21 GMC Terrain had no shifter and was all push button. That took some getting used to.

My brother in-law had read that all GM vehicles after 2022 or 2023 would have push button transmission. My work truck is a 2022 Colorado and still has a shifter so maybe ‘23 or he read wrong.

The keyless push button ignition still gets me from time to time and the honk if you leave the keys in the vehicle drives me up the wall! ?

Instead of power steering you had a 3' diameter steering wheel.

Most kids don't know what a duce and a quarter is.

Most people don't know that GTO stands for Gran Turismo Omologato.

Vinyl tops. My first car had one. Many in the later 60s and 70s.

Ya - my 76 Charger SE had a half-vinyl top.

I still keep the jug of water. I’ve never used it for the radiator but I’ve drank it many times haha

Triangle smokers window and space to work on your engine easily.  The rest have been said. The biggest one I miss is the crotch cooler.

MikeL seeing your GTO reminds me of the AMC Rebel that my grandma had. It was fire engine red.

Ha Ha, did much of the same.

Forgot about the 'ole Holly dual feed double pumper.

Fuel economy was never a consideration back then.

My F250 has a solid axle. I think Ford is the only truck with a solid front axle.

Are you talking truck or muscle car?
