Guys part of  job is in desert or better say in Mojave Boneyard and I am fishing of course I need strong tires that can handle mud and sharp objects, In the boneyard we have so many scrap metal everywhere. I took a picture go original tires but I need something stronger.

I've had very good luck over the last 30 yrs. with BF Goodrich all terrain TKO tires.

What you might want to do is add some sealer to help seal any punctures you might get.

When we first started going out to Nebraska deer hunting we experienced flat tire after flat tire. We went to the tire shop and the guy told us we needed a heavier ply tire (more ply). The rocks in their gravel used in dirt roads out there have sharp edges. Here in Michigan, they’re more rounded. We got tires with the most plys we could (I think a 12 ply, I don’t remember as it was 20 years ago) and an aggressive tire and that fixed the problem.

I’ve seen them on lawn mowers mostly and on some sky lifts, but never a vehicle. I agree, I think it would be a rough ride.

Very real and crazy expensive. Like 4 - 6 K a set.

Look up Michelin UPTIS. Apparently they are available for passenger vehicles (or will be in 2024). They wouldn’t be good in our areas. Could you imagine getting snow caked in there and throwing the balance off? You’d have to go to the dentist weekly to get your fillings replaced! 

Tough to beat Nitto Ridge Grapplers for a good off road tire that's also nice once you're back out on the highway.

If you’re going to be doing a lot of driving where’s there’s pieces of metal, bring some tire slime, some plug kits l, and something to air them back up with. Working around New Orleans after Katrina we did it that way because it could be one, it could be all four but it was going to happen. There was stuff everywhere and you never knew what you were driving over.

best tire I have ever owned has been Michelin LTX MS.  they are kinda boring looking which is doubly bad because they LAST FOREVER.  they were out of stock everywhere for about 2 years during the pandemic and I bought Coopers in the interim.  they are okay....but I am going back to the Michelins when I get the chance. (from Costco)

 

super grippy even in snow.  I was the only vehicle that could make it up a driveway in Tahoe.  I ended up being the luggage mover, while other guest had to walk up the hill.  hahah.  super quiet, greatest MPG of my truck's life.  I hunted AZ and Idaho with those tires and did some crazy things with my rig.

BFG AT/KOs are some of the best out there.

The LTX A/T 2's on my Titan have 40,000 miles on them and still have 9/32" tread.   

When I still had my 2008 4WD Ram, I ran Nitto Grappler LT285/70R17's. Rotated them at every oil change. The guy that bought her from me is still using them.

I've lived in Nebraska most of my life, spend lots of time running the gravel roads. Never an issue with flats (knock on wood). 

 

I've run a few different brands through the years...buddy is service manager at GM dealership...his recommendation, BFG AT's. I've been running them on last two trucks...got 65k miles out of first pair on a 3/4 ton HD crew cab.  Running BFG's on my 2500HD Diesel now.

 

Tires are one of those items that I will gladly pay more for quality.

I think Michelins make the best.  first time I hit 23 miles per gallon with my old truck was on Michelins.  with the Coopers, I am just south of 20..and I drive like an old lady piloting a Prius on most days.

I just put Goodyear duratracs on my Ram.  I wanted a slightly more aggressive tread without going too crazy.  we don't have the same sharp gravel/shale/metal that you're talking about so can't tell you how they perform there.  But otherwise I'm happy with them.  A little noisier than a road tire on a truck, but the ride is good and I have no worries about getting stuck anywhere.

I have no idea, thats what I got when I bought the car brand new from dealer.
