There's a place nearby I love to fish. It's a small pond, highly pressured. But it's literally 1 minute away and I've caught 4lb bass in there. Most are in the 1-2lb range. I call it my "test pond". Since its a conservation area, the gated entry is manned April 15-October 15. Which leaves lots of fishing time still on either end. And they allow you to walk in or bike in during the unmanned season, so......

 

It's over a mile drive to the pond. Bicycle? Nope..I sometimes wear waders or warm coveralls and rubber boots. E-bike? Yes...But too heavy to pull out of the truck. My bulging discs will have none of it!  So I decided on an e-scooter.

 

Folds, weighs 50lbs, has a range of about 25 miles. Has nice safety touches like headlight, taillight, side lights, turn signals, horn. Suspension front and rear. And tops out at 25mph, which feels positively terrifying!! 

 

But I needed to easily bring my rods. So I made and mounted a bracket to hold 2 Scotty holders. It turned out perfectly! Does not impede folding, either.

 

So overall, very pleased with this purchase. Will help to greatly increase my fishing season at this location.

I use an E-Bike to drive to the homelake ....rigged a nice milk crate on the back, and use a rod caddy.     

 

I should just walk lol, but even so I've managed to put at least 200m on it taking it to and from the lake in about 15months.    Crazy to think how many E miles I put on the jon boat in that time come to think of it.

But think in more practical terms!  Even if it's a 5 minute walk each way...that's becomes nearly 10 minutes of extra fishing time since it takes almost no time on an e-powered vehicle! LOL 😆 

 

 

 

 

Dang that's a cool setup. I never would have considered it. There are a couple places that I fish, something like that would benefit me, though I don't know that I could ride one.

I suspect if you can balance, you may be able to ride one.

 

I'm over 50 and this is the first time I've ridden one of these.

Smart set up.  My son has one of those electric scooters and they can really get moving.  I know his I can get up to like 12-13mph

Years a-go I lived in Houston, TX with some good-sized flood retention waters located in suburban areas.  Folks would zip around on the walking trails with their bikes fishing various locations. Most for LMB. 

Nice idea. Looks like it should work well.

You need to do some night fishing.

you might have solved a problem that I have.  There is a wildlife maangement area at the bottom of our hill with good access at one end and where everyone parks.  The other end is bounded by a road (all no parking and no pulloffs available), a swamp, and a bunch of houses.  There are two TINY strips where the public land touches a road, but no place to park.  I tried to walk in from the access areas, but it was too swampy to make it without getting onto private land and I had to back out.  I also thought about an ebike, but that's a lot of money for a single spot that might not even be worth it.  However, there are used scooters on marketplace all the time for pretty cheap.  Strap my my bow on a backpack and we're in.

i am shocked that weighs 50lbs..how much does a E-bike weigh?  seems like my friends big money specialized is around 50lb.

Sorry,  every time I see one of these things this guy comes to mind. My kids loved the show. It's one of those things I can't unsee.

I assume it's a dirt road. Small wheels and deep holes don't mix well. Keep your eyes open. A wheel might go in but be reluctant to come out. Otherwise cool set-up.
