Nick Saban is retiring

I don’t think he will be missed in Tennessee.  😁  There’s no denying his success.   I guess he’s not up for the new era of playoffs and paid players.

LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

War Eagle!    What a soul crushing day for all the Bama fans.

He's the goat, I strongly dislike him as a person, and as a coach, but his record is the best.

While I'm no Saban fan, @Tennessee Boy is 100% correct, no denying his success. This Tennessee Volunteer fan won't miss him one bit, but as an SEC fan I want Alabama to make a good hire. If he retired due to this new age of college football, I don't blame him. I don't like what it's turning into either.

He has money, he’s 72 years old, and he’s a historic figure in college football. Mission accomplished.

I don’t blame him.

He’s going to join BR and become a great bass fisherman.

Kudos for what he did in college.

I'll remember him the most for another reason, though. I grew up in Miami and watched him turn his back on his Dolphin's HC job after the team imploded because of him. His famous statement of "I'm not going to be the Alabama coach" and then becoming the Alabama coach about TWO WEEKS later still ticks me off.

That and signing Duante Culpepper with a serious injury instead of Drew Brees hurt the franchise for many many years.

Coach jump started LSU to its third national championship since the last one in1958 and the Les Miles era was born where Les won his Natty with Saban players.

It has been great to follow what Saban accomplished at Alabama, but times change and I can understand his frustration at the current situation in college football.

Although us LSU fans did not like him, he was always a top level competitor who did not have to cheat to win.

Now to bring Coach Eaux out of retirement and take over the Bama program. Wouldn't that be something to see!!!

Geaux Tigers!

Did he actually give the reason for retiring or is the current state of the game just speculation by a few disgruntled SEC fans on bass resource?

I do agree that the transfer portal is way too loose right now. It’s like free agency in the NFL. Time to tighten it back up.

To the greatest college football coach of all time, thank you for the years and for the historic run. Saban is walking away at 72 years old and after 51 seasons on the sidelines as either a graduate assistant, assistant coach or head coach. His seven national championships as a head coach at the collegiate level stand as the all-time record, and his six national titles at Alabama tie him with legendary Alabama coach Paul Bryant.

He's the Mike Krzyzewski of college football, few will duplicate his career.

Will the program suffer from this loss ?

DEFINITELY

I’m hearing family member health problem has prompted this decision

Exactly my thoughts too.

Imho, that's a terrible hire.    The guy doesn't know the SE, doesn't know the recruiting channels and highschool coaches down here.

Auburn just made this mistake with Harsin

He was/is the best to ever do it.

You War/Eagle/Tiger slash The Plains fans just may have a shot now. Ralph Jordan and John Heisman are running inside run drills in the big gridiron in the sky!

Nick Saban's only losing record is at Jordan Hare.....he went 5-7.

He should have lost two more games which makes it all the more amazing, he's on record saying he didn't perform well there.
