  • I've always been an early adopter of tech in bass fishing...Since back when having a sonar unit at BOTH the console and the bow was a big deal.  Vertical 'video game' fishing on greyscale 2d sonar, GP

  • This may come as a shock to some of y'all but there are thousands of bass caught daily without FFS.   Some with stringer larger than what these Pros caught.

  • In regards to this past Bassmaster Elite series tournament..

And Fujita-san breaks the century mark.

Something tells me blaukat won’t notice the people fishing shallow ……. Selectively

But Fujita has caught all his fish on FFS and its not going to be close. FFS will dominate all the tournaments unless it's bed fishing which is an evil all of its own.

I think having a screen as big as Fujita really has to help scoping.

It's hard for me to listen to that guy anymore on ANY subject.  Plus his teeth are cringing to look at it.  Its like a train wreck in there.

Fujita wins.. what a 4 day performance. Congratulations to him!

And there’s at least 5 other anglers if not more that have the same screen as him including Feider who finished 60+.  Rojas was competitive all week in MLF and the open was won last week without it. FFS isn’t still the only way to win but it certainly helps.

Bassmaster says Seth was sight fishing. The only one I heard of!

It more than helps. FFS is the most dominating piece of fishing technology in the past 20 years. It's a young man's game now and it is pushing the oldheads out.

The worst part to me is the fact the winner didn't even have a casting rod on his deck... heck, if I am using a spinning rod I am having a really bad day. I have about 50 baitcasters and only 3 spinning rods...

So, if they had been using a BFS rod and reel that would make it OK?

All righty then....

The FFS issue that many are having will work itself out. I’ve watched 22 hours of this tournament live, today, I saw guys grabbing their backs, moaning getting in the rod boxes, complaining about neck pain and eyes hurting from the strain.. a couple abandoned the tactic and went power fishing to get a break! 🤣🤣🥲

Don't buy that at all 😉

There are still tournaments being won without it.

I don't own a spinning setup, I fish the same techniques they use with a baitcaster. I think it was Jason Christie who said Fujita was catching his fish closer to the bottom & the Damiki Rig really was necessary.

Many local tournament anglers are saying that they have noticed that once they locate fish they turn the units off because it's spooking fish.

I would like to see limits place on sonar units. 2 units at the console and 2 units up front should be sufficient for anybody. Choose whatever , I dont want to ban them. Having 5 ffs units and   a  360 degree field of vision , to me thats going a bit overboard.

I was half joking but Kyoya WAS fishing the drift fry (and Sakamata shad)

Mid strolling with either 1/8 or 3/16 oz jig heads.

Chris Johnston was too

On the spinning rods:

Using nothing but baitcasters is fine if you like eating pride sandwiches and not winning . I like both and don’t fish tourneys so it doesn’t matter but if you want to cash checks consistently in the BASS elite series you better be able to do it all

Ya ever heard of Bait Finesse System?

BFS utilizes specialized baitcasting reels and casting rods to allow the angler to cast ultralight lures that would normally only be used with spinning reels and rods.

They are both simply tools in a toolbox. Limiting yourself to one or the other is like limiting yourself to a flathead screwdriver. It’ll still work on a Philips screw but not as well. Being versatile can only help.

Indeed I have, didn’t see anyone using it

Does not mean it would not have worked.

It was definitely a big weekend for FFS.  It dominated the BASS tournament and humiliated the anglers that didn’t use it.  From what I could tell only one angler made significant use of FFS in the MLF tournament and that was the winner Jacob Wheeler.

He 1000% won’t or will mention it for 10 seconds in a 10 minute rant. I used to like watching him, but after his 50th rant about live scope it just gets old. You can only beat a dead horse for so long.

I agree with you. I used to be a subscriber but let him and his negativity (that he says doesn't exist) go.

He won using it but you can't really compare the 2 tours because all bass, big and small count in MLF again. FFS is one of those things I wish it was never invented so no one knew what they didn't have - now that its here it will never go away but I feel it will heavily impact tournament fishing. Especially at the club levels.

I would like to see some sort of limitation on ffs. I have it and use it in tournaments. I rarely turn my graphs on when I’m fishing for fun. I think they take the fun/enjoyment out of the experience but if you want to compete you better use it to some extent.I watch a ton of these guys on YouTube.  BLatt, Martin, Millikan, Fidel, etc etc. The least entertaining are videos based on FFs. I do like that Millikan brakes down what’s going on in his videos and is pretty open about what and why he does things. The guys excellent and has been since before he became famous. It looks like a lot of the older guys are really struggling when you look outside the top 30. I don’t know what bass or mlf can do to make the coverage more entertaining to watch. The anglers have to have a personality people want to see. Some people just don’t have that especially in a competitive atmosphere.

I think he has valid concerns about the direction of the sport.

When the most memorable moment from this tourney was Milliken eating quail eggs I think there is a problem.
