the recent Daiwa Tatula thread got me thinking, "hey I think I have one of those, where is it?"  so I went to go look.  I have a rubbermaid type shoe box in my garage where I have a few extra reels.  yikes!!!  it has several reels!!

I need to sell some stuff, or give it to my brother.   I went to look to see if I could put the Tatula on a rod to test fire it again.  (I dont remember loving it).   nope.  I have no free rods.  I DEFINATELY buy more reels than rods.   or I broke a few.

I did find an old LEWS loaded with braid I am going to rig up on a broken rod to meet the fish/game requirement of having a defender rigged up for rockfish pursuits.  :D  the rules doesnt say it needs to be perfectly functional.

Divorce an option?  Or don't you like cooking your own meals and cleaning the toilet?

Not counting a few older spin casters and 2 spinning reels that I weened the kids off,

I pretty much have one for one now.

Lots of extra rods. Shipping tubes has been 💩 lately.

It is close, but I have a couple of extra rods. It is nice to have a couple of back ups. Rods tend to break. Reels generally just need attention.

No longer can do that.  Already have too many rods.  Currently about 25 more reels than rods.  :(

I'm close to 1:1.  I'll upgrade a rod.  Then realize it needs a better reel so upgrade the reel.  Or vice versa.

I'm pretty sure it's even.

My first baitcaster that I bought around 20 years ago is pooping out on me but I'll just replace it maybe this year.

If I had a bunch of extra rods or reels laying around my wife wouldn't let me hear the end of it. She already complains about all the stuff I have.   :)

I just sent a Tatula SV TW to a friend to even the balance on the scale a bit.

Wow. Throw some of those bad boys up on the Flea Market page.

I've got quite a few more reels than rods. Rods are all full and know I've got around 10-12 up on the hobby bench.

Casting reels that is. Don't think I have any extra spinning reels.

more rods. I like the rods. Reels are reels. Don't get me wrong I like the reels too, but if I had the opportunity to buy a new rod I'll do that and just swap reels.

The problem is I only have about one reel that I wouldn't feel bad about selling.  Casts great but I'm not a fan of the clutch release being a lever on the top of the reel.  As I understand it, this is a good position for pitching, but that's something I've yet to use on the water and probably never will at my age.

When I upgrade a rod the reel gets upgraded as well.

I have rods and reels in my gun room that never get used but everything is paired.

I've got more reels than rods - older, less capable reels that were retired when I got something better, but they went on the same rods as the older reel as I always purchased better rods early on.

All paired up here.

Reels.  I am more apt to sell or donate older rods but hang on to reels.  I have way to many of each.

I have more rods. I don't match a rod to a reel and leave it be, I have a rod for every niche I fish and choose which reel will make the best combo for the given environment.  I can take one reel and fish for stream trout on a 5'1"L, put it on a 7'4" M and go for big browns, or on a 6'5" ML and throw small cranks and soft plastic for bass.  My quiver runs deep.  I'm a bank/wade fisherman so I'm often carrying just one combo with me.  I value mobility and take just what I need.

I have 64 rods and 34 reels.

Right now I have more reels. Some deals I couldn't pass up and it's not like I'll never need them. Ask me next year and it might be the opposite.

At any given time, I usually have more of one than the other. Right now it's rods. Last year it was reels. Had some BNIB I had forgotten about. Ha!
