Best way to store buzzbaits/spinnerbaits?

Featured Replies

Any good boxes out there that store buzzbaits and spinnerbaits? Looked through some old forums and wasn't sure if there was some new box out there that stored them well

Are you in a boat, shore bound, kayak, etc?

I have been using the 3700 sized wire bait box for a long time. That said, it’s not perfect and I would swap it and might.  I have moved my buzzbaits to a waterproof zipper envelope bag.  I only carry 10 or so and they are all roughly the same but I won’t be swapping.  Spinnerbaits are in the Plano 3700 but I’m looking at soft bags for them now. The 3700 is pretty good and will do 30 baits with no problem but I still don’t love it.

Flambeau zerust max blade krate. I love mine. Works perfectly.

@TNBankFishing… that thing is huge. Holds a lot of bait.

I use a Plano 3600, I cut slots it the dividers, with the jig head on one side and the blades on the other. It doesn’t hold no where near as much as the flambeau does.

I use a  plano with no dividers. I have some heavy duty plastic covers that were used for fire extinguisher tags.I need to get some more of those. Each cover holds several spinnerbaits or buzzbaits. I just throw them inside. Two covers hold skirts.

Heres a photo of my system. It works for me. There are some loose lures not in sleeves because the last time or two I went fishing I didnt take time to put them back after changing lures.

Use the Plano and cut groove with utility knife.PXL_20251222_141707422.jpg.ddacc2dd46164918407eeb39bca009ce.jpg

Most all of mine are 3/8 or 1/4 so I use a flat box with no dividers.

It’s not small for sure but when I pack up for the season i can fit all my remaining spinnerbaits, buzz baits, and bladed jigs. Lets me keep track of what I might need to buy before spring.

I bought some clear plastic bags (4mm thickness maybe?) from Amazon and store all my buzzbaits and spinnerbaits flat in a 3700 open compartment box.

I used to carry a ton of spinnerbaits and buzzbaits. I really only used a couple and decided to downsize. I got a soft sided spinnerbait wallet with the clear plastic sleeves. Now I only carry the few I use and have not looked back.

Hanging spinnerbaits or buzzers line tie eye up  keeps the skirts straight, trailers and blades in good shape. The down side is the deep box shape isn’t suitable for shore anglers.

Shore or back seater's don’t need to carry everything they own, select only what you need then storage isn’t an issue.

I use the Plano Guide Series Blade Bag. Can usually get 3-4 spinnerbaits per section and it lets me organize them better.

@rboat you just reminded…. I used to use a CD wallet… it had a bunch of sleeves, it worked pretty good. I switched tackle bags, then I switched to a 3600, cut out.

I use the large Plano box to store spinnerbaits at home full time and transfer them to a tackle binder for trips out.. I never take more than a half dozen with me. (Day trips) Long term vertical storage is the best method to keep skirts from developing kinks, deformation.. tackle binder slips into a smallish backpack with other gear. Perfect for me. Tackle binder works good for senkos, jig trailers, hooks, etc

A friend gave me a Plano box made for spinner and buzz baits. It's as big as a small tackle box.

I have the Plano edge spinnerbait/buzz bait box that went through the tornado and was submerged with the boat for 3 days.

All the baits were dry and plastic didn't crack. I think the edge series in general is kinda pricey but I can't complain about the durability and being water tight.

I have the Plano edge spinnerbait box. I don't use it; it is huge.

I've come all the way back around to a CD case. In fairness, spinnerbaits are a very rare presentation for me so I'm prioritizing space over selection - 12 is enough.

I have 6 different boxes for spinnerbaits and constantly switch them out. Still have not figured out what I like best.

Bass Pro offers a utility binder in two sizes. You can sort your spinners by size, blade style color and still have bags left over for trailers, replacement blades or whatever.  I use one for jigs and another for spinnerbaits/buzzbaits.
