Like Pat said.

I just wish I had rip rap.

If I did it would be a Yo Zuri squarebill.

A short story about rock. There is a pile of busted up concrete on the way to one of the mud bottomed lakes I fish. I have a tiny boat so its not like I can haul stuff to make brushpiles but every time I go by I stop and grap a couple of chunks and drop them in a spot. Over the last few years it has grown to be a pretty good pile and a wiggle wart or a DT8 has caught many good ones.

Just like Johnny Cash got his Cadillac;

"I got it one piece at a time,

and it didn't cost me a dime."

I did something similar in front of my camper I had on Mississippi back water protectected by a levee. I kept throwing junk I found in front, even a kitchen sink. The water got low and all this junk was visible. It really trashed the site up. I had to move it all out .

It depends on the rock and the depth. Getting good deflection is the key.

Around 5'-7' and small rock - Evergreen PC-5

Around 5'-7' and big rock - Bill Lewis ATV or Deps Evoke 2.0

7'-10' - OSP Blitz DR

10'+ - OSP Blitz Max DR

Also, I do like the Rock Crawler but it gets stuck more often than others.

It looks like the Rapala DT6 is the greatest riprap crankbait ever made, according to Bass Resource members.

I wish it could be the Berkley Frittside, but the bill is too fragile, same issue I have with the DT6. It's a suicide mission to send either either out on a day of fishing riprap because at some point, the Frittside is going to come back missing some or all of the bill, and the DT6 is going to come back with just the bill.

My choice would be a Strike King 1.5 Hard Knock for shallow rip rap, and a Spro Rock Crawler for deeper rocks.

I'm with blue basser. I love my DT series baits and carry them from the 4 to the 20 in enough colors for any conditions. I throw them in rocky bottoms and it just grinds down the bills. I think the plastic is just a little softer. When the fish are eating them I'll deal with it, but if I was fishing rip rap specifically then I'd have other thoughts in mind.

Don't sleep on a lipless either. Bass will slide up and down the riprap and a lipless will let you fish all the depths.
