I was able to sneak out the other night after getting the kids to sleep and ran into a new PB! 6lbs 3oz at a little lake by my house. I found an offshore weedline in about 10ft of water on my portable

Kinda rough weather in northern IL today but I've been on this 3-day weather pattern the last couple weeks (fishing the 3rd day of warm day/warmish night trend) and today is the target day. I decided

Had a club tournament last sunday on Clinton lake.  Took 2nd place, big fish went 3.4lbs.

Mattoon lake last saturday, buddy and i took 3rd in club tournament. Limit of fish for 10.3lbs.

Fishing seems to have slowed down around here. Frog bite had been decent. Spinnerbait/ chatty fair. Rest been caught flipping beavers/ craws.

Was getting some 1lb largemouths on the desplaines with the whopper plopper a few days ago with the good weather, now that it got cold again ned rigs seem to be only working for me.

Hit up Newton last weekend for the beautiful weather we had Friday and Saturday.  There wasn't a cloud in the sky all day Friday and not until midday Saturday.  That high pressure really killed the bite for me.  It was pretty tough and my most consistent bite was catching small bass in the shallows which is definitely not what I came to Newton for.  I did catch a 18" bass pitching a laydown with a craw and did find a productive bank that gave me a lot of fish on finesse and 3 in the 17" range but that was it for 2 full days of fishing.  Still great to get out and enjoy the incredible weather.

You fishing from a kayak on the Des Plaines?

Shore, wish I was though it would be a whole lot easier to find these deeper holes. I am north of kingery so it makes things a little harder.

I hit up Independence Grove, Grayslake as well as the Des Plaines river near Lemont this weekend. Nothing at Independence Grove, think I found 1 baitfish. Nothing at Grayslake but at least bait was easy to find. Caught one 22'' pike on the Desplaines near Lemont. Water is still real shallow on the river.

Looks like the ponds near plainfield are starting to freeze

Yup--ponds in the Algonquin/Lake in the Hills area doing the same. I'm gonna check out Three Oaks in Crystal Lake here in the next couple days. Season may be coming to a close, boys...

It's starting to get to the point where open water may be right around the corner after the 60's for a couple days this week

I just drove from the city to Mallard Lake way out there for me in Roselle.  Some open water at the shoreline, but I think it won't open till that forecasted rain.....

We didn't get the rain, but the wind thawed every pond around my house.

I just renewed my fishing license online and our illustrious state now has added a processing fee of $4.00 in place of the former $1.00 agent fee and $1.36 convenience fee.

Looks like governor fatty has found another way to get in our wallets!

that extra $1.74 really got you upset?  Now if you really want to complain, the trailer fee went from $18 to $118

anyways... I caught my first bass of the year.  a little 12 incher on the ned rig

The $100 increase was last year.

A friend has three single axle, and three tandem axle trailers (one is duals). I'd hate to see what he pays !

Ice is gone up north. Picked up my grandson and did some recon of some potential shore spots. Took him to BPS to check out at the fish tank. Spooled up the reels yesterday. Going to try and get out with him next weekend to do a little crappie fishing even though his heart is set on catching catfish.

yeah I know, just pointing it out. I'm keeping my boat in Wisconsin now, so I might transfer the trailer registration

I would like to be able to do the same. Have heard of several people registering under out of state families name, or switching plates, if they have more than one trailer.

What our state did should be illegal !!

I could understand raising the fees, even on an annual basis, as long as it's reasonable.
