  1. I fished the BASS weekend series for one season as a non-boater. Hated their rule that the non-boater got the boaters weight added to their total?? Made no sense to me and cost me a win at LOZ, ended up in 5th because my boater only put 3 keepers in the boat. Made it to the regional at Patoka in Indiana, if I never see that lake again I could die happy. I caught 3 bass in 2 days, 1 keeper, missed the cut by about a pound. 10 pounds won the non-boater side over 3 days of fishing, the guy caught 2 5 pounders, only 2 fish he caught in 3 days.
  2. It gets used pretty often, but I forget about them and grab my DD pointers first it seems.
  3. Baby Rage Craws or YUM Craw Papis, both killer smallmouth baits on a shakyhead.
  4. Every one I've ever owned got the main blade tossed when a fish jumped. Good baits otherwise but it's a hard problem to correct because it's so hard to bend titanium.
  5. Cavitron is all I use. You might check out the Ghost Minnow color for really clear water. Honestly, I've had great success in water with >10' visibility with my old stand by black on black cavitron.
  6. A line that can stand up to zebra mussels.
  7. Only way I see to keep it fair if you're suspending, is to suspend both of them. I'd think Poche would get it for his carelessness that started it, and Ish for escalating it way past where it should have gone. That said, I think BASS did the right thing. If you suspend these guys from all BASS events, you're potentially ruining someone's career. Not saying that they wouldn't have earned it had they gone that direction, but let them prove that it was a one time deal and they can get past the whole deal.
  8. There's a bunch of hotels in Rogers, AR where we stayed last time as low as $35 a night. There's also bunches of cabins on or close to the lake that you can get a group to go in on for around $50 a night per person if we wanted to go that route. They're both popular lakes and we're going to be before the big holiday seasons kick off, lodging shouldn't be an issue. There's camp grounds with hookups if you wanted to go really cheap even.
  9. So I think we're looking at May 2-3. The original date is the same weekend as Big Bass Bash on LOZ that several guys are wanting to fish. Several guys weren't able to make it so we didn't really get a full vote on a location as of right now the votes are; Jared, Chris T, Curt, Coty-Grand Clayton, Peter, Jon, Adam-Beaver Sizzle-A lake Chris S-indifferent Conner, Brian, Drew, Ryan, Cole-out If you're wanting to go and haven't voted let me know what your vote is. If you voted and decide you aren't going let me know so I can remove your vote. I'm thinking we'll run this through Feb and most votes by then is where we'll go. We have the date set, provided it works for most, so we can get the days off and decide location later.
  10. There's been several times I was catching larger than average sized fish for a lake and spent the whole day with the same rod in my hands feeling like I could call my shot, that's about as good as it gets.
  11. They're a killer over the grass at Bone. I have several packs and really like them. I wouldn't say I like them more than a spook, but you can fish them in places a spook can't go and that's why I bought them. Hardest part is finding a hook that fits them.
  12. Yeah, these guys just fish the Opens for another chance to qualify for the Classic.
  13. A local guy makes spinnerbait "blades" out of Zman Elastech material that he melts down into a custom made mold. Ends up with a much softer thump and much less flash. No idea if they work as I've never fished them but an interesting concept never the less.
  14. I bought a set for my johnboat. Clamped them on, tried to lean back to test them out and fell over backwards into the boat, couldn't take them back fast enough.
  15. Looks a bit like a color I use on my bladed jigs a lot, killer in stained to dirty water.
  16. That Table Rock shad color looks great!
  17. The fish in my avatar was 21.5" long and 17" around and went 7.76 pounds. I caught one in January the same year that was 24.5" long but only 14" around that weighed 7.51 pounds. So it can vary a lot depending on the girth.
  18. I use mainly 15-20lb on my heavier pitching/flipping rod. I would suggest trying about any line other than Vanish though.
  19. The swinging football head has become one of my favorite ways to present a soft plastic.
  20. None of my old ones rattle.
  21. They're a great open water crank because they impart their own deflection or hunting action. You have to fish them slowly but they're a killer at times. Seems like fish really knock the snot out of them when they hit them. I just picked up a deep and shallow version last week, looking forward to trying both, hopefully Friday
  22. Any bowfin in the pond? I know there's some down that way and they'll eat a bait and pull like crazy.
  23. No idea why you wouldn't do it, if not for your safety, for the safety of others if something happened to you while the boat was under power.
  24. A throwback from 2009, my biggest Kansas largemouth at 7lbs 14ozs. Taken on a red shad YUM wooly bug out of a brush pile on a tiny state lake. The only other boat on the lake had just finished fishing the pile I caught it out of, and they had some choice words for me for catching "their" fish. All I had for them was a cat that ate the canary grin
