  1. After using mono for 40 years I've gone to 30lb. braid. I can't find a downside to it. It makes a so so running wake bait or walking bait better.
  2. My general rule of thumb is if I can't get them to chase a moving bait I try something slow and on the bottom. A jig or the ol' ball and chain with a fish Dr. or lizard. this time of year. A Senko or wacky/neko rig is never a bad idea either.
  3. If you haven't seen one yet check out the Bubba scale.
  4. Man, It's hard to pick one. I used to fish only Falcon. Then gradually more Loomis , That started about 10 years ago. Now a Mix of of Daiwa and Loomis with some old standbys like a Yamamoto spinning rod that goes back to my Falcon days. If I had to start all over it would be Daiwa.
  5. It's getting to be that time around here. I like white or any color that I can see . Just cast it and let it sink until it's out of sight and twitch it and repeat. They also fish well on a Scrounger head especially on gravel points.
  6. I only have the PA in a spinning rod. I'm probably in the minority but I don't think it's any more sensitive than a Zodias. It's a great build and great action but that's about it for me. I have the tatula AGS in the Ehler model. I personally would choose it over the Adrena.
  7. Not a GLX but my favorite Loomis jerkbait rod is the IMX 802 top water rod.
  8. No headaches. Just fish away.. All lines with the exception of braid will stretch.
  9. I like the X9 in crystal , I use it along with YGK and like them both. I also just started using the almight sinking braid. I think for light baits in the wind it shows promise but too early to call.
  10. I think you are exactly right. It was designed to flip small jigs around docks. It's casts and fishes them fine also but it wouldn't be my first choice for a t-rigged plastic of any kind.
  11. The finesse jig rod was originally called the Eakins jig rod. It was designed to fish Jim Eakins signature 5/16 ball head jig here in the Ozarks. It was only available in the lowrider series back then and was softer than what you buy today but it's still one of my favorites. Guys used to throw squarebills on the original model. The current model makes a good spinnerbait rod and some use it for top water with mono. You can still buy the Eakins jig from Jewell but it is now called the AJ finesse jig.
  12. Neither. I just cut them off and call it good.
  13. I've found a pair of scissors makes them all adjustable.
  14. I just got it but so far like it.I too wish it had the contour mapping.
  15. I use the LIV bags.
  16. I've only owned one edge. It was nice but personally I'd go with Loomis. But of course it's your money. NFC/Edge is not known for good customer service.
  17. Kistler used NFC blanks before they made the switch to a off shore source. I've owned Z bones with both the NFC and the new source and I'm hard pressed to tell much difference. But they are still assembled in Texas as far as I know
  18. As a guy who fishes NRX and Steeze for my bottom contact stuff I'd love to say they are a game changer but they aren't. I dig 'em and its not taking food off my table by buying them so what the heck. I'm sure I will hook just as many on my Tatula elite's or Falcons . Now you can't compare a NRX to a $ 50 dollar rod but there is without question a point of diminishing returns.
  19. That would be too long for my taste, For me 6ft10 - 7ft is about right. But everybody is different. The 6ft 10 PA for example I can just tap my thumb on the blank and it shakes without much effort.
  20. Falcon is really behind the spinning rod market. Maybe they will rest on the casting rods but they haven't made a great spinning rod since the original experts and now without a minnow shaking rod the market is passing them by.
  21. I'm curious as to why you wouldn't just bring them in and not worry about it. It can't take long to carry 6 rods out of the house or garage.
  22. I usually trim them to the hook bend. I don't use scissors I just pull the strands off so they're uneven. Probably doesn't matter but just the way I've always done it.
