"Big" bass
Just say you’re personal best and keep swinging for the fences. I mean in Indiana I’ve caught a plethora of 5 to 7 pound fish but there just isn’t that trophy fishery in this state. Lake Monroe use to be amazing for 5-9 pound fish but the state killed off 95% of the lily pads and the fishing started to suck. I fish ponds and small lakes mostly now. When I get the serious bug, I’m ponying up and going to Kentucky or Cumberland, but more than likely I’m heading to the Gulf of America.. 🤪😂😉

Daiwa 24 Steez SV TW: Vibration During Retrieve
So you did a spool swap and the problem went away? I’m not a Daiwa expert by no means but logically speaking that spool has an issue. Either that spool bearing possibly or the brake rotor.. I call it a rotor Daiwa calls it something else. Is it a SV boost spool?

Vintage lures you remember in your dad's tacklebox...
Poes Cedar prop bait I bought in Florida when I lived there. Lost on Lochloosa lake at sunrise on a massive topwater strike, line broke and the bait disappeared. Retied a Texas rig and we worked the hydrilla hard, never moved more than twenty feet, 30 minutes later (more sunlight) I saw my bait bobbing, it was actually my line I saw, clear blue, line broke at about 10’ and bait had bite marks all over it. I retired it immediately. 😂 Still have it w original trebles that were sharpened by a 6 v rechargeable hook honer. Needle sharp.   Anyway, I bagged 14 pounds on July 3rd 87 and won the tournament. It was 100* that day. Partner bagged a fat zero 🤣🤣🤣

JDM Zillion for heavier duty stuff
Yes but it depends largely on which Zillion he’s referring too. (Model or years of production)

For the Caffeine Shad do you prefer the Owner Twistlock or Gammy EWG?
So you believe the BKK hook is better than an Owner or Gamakatsu?

Popular lures/equipment that you don’t like - and vice versa
You got that right! It’s also why I will never divulge a couple tactics that I do that rarely are used. I’m going to keep it for myself, but it’s killer and rarely fails me. Sometimes, mum’s the word. I’d also add that different in our sport is a good thing.

Orange Lake Fl.
Haha some things never change!

Nice fish Ski, how were the bugs with no wind? There were times on Lochloosa it was near impossible to fish because of them.

Painted vs Unpainted Jig Head
I’m not taking precious time painting a ball head jig because it simply doesn’t matter to fish. Do it if you enjoy the tackle grooming aspect but seriously the fish simply don’t care.. in the 70’s and 80’s you couldn’t buy painted slip sinkers for T-rigging worms but guess what we caught fish and sometimes big largemouth. They were also made out of lead. No tungsten. Eventually brass was available for awhile, made popular out west in clear water C-rigging.. tackle grooming is part of the sport for sure but unpainted jig heads work just as good (sharp hooks matter more) 😉

Who's bass fishing videos do you like on youtube?
Yup, that’s the good ole films, brings back old memories. When the circuit was at its best. I have more than a couple guides that I follow on Guntersville, Kentucky, Cumberland and Fork. Some are email updates on lake activity. I’d rather read than view but I do watch a little. Mostly thou reading is my thing..

Casting Spoons -- remember these classics?
Used the feathered chrome Kastmaster in the Caribbean and caught many Barracuda. They’re a very good choice in Saltwater.

Diawa Mangetsu vs Tatula 150
No. Spring for another zil 1000HD or buy a SLP Daiwa zillion which is based off the HD1000 and pick out your own 34 mm spool to do whatever you please, pick out your own handle and then it’s totally yours..

Fishing weeds: worm color?
Motor oil and black w or without red flake, green pumpkin w gold flake. Watermelon seed.. these are all solid colors for me. Haven’t used a Tru-Turn in years but after me taking a file to them they straight up work..

Comparing rod limberness
Well figuratively, you can’t . With mail order being the #1 way most of us order rods via internet it's just not possible. Before BPS moved in to my area there were several awesome mom & pop bait shops with high end rods and reels along with hard baits, soft baits, fly rod , reels etc, etc. Unfortunately, they were forced to shut their doors forever. It’s a d**n shame too. Rods these days are cookie cutter actions from manufacturers. 95% of mine are American made and 100% of those come from Woodland, WA. Your question is valid but I simply don’t have an answer. Except doing an in store comparison.

Daiwa should steal shimano's coresolid body design.
I’m honestly not sure why they label the spinning reels as core solid, they look to be the same in manufacturing as they ever were. This is also the first time I’ve seen the spinning reels with that moniker..but the Japanese are odd w the manufacturing lingo lol it is interesting the way they’ve chosen to machine the baitcast reels in this manner. The 22 Bantam are like little tanks. The only thing that gives me pause are the Micro Module gear sets.

Google it. AI is your friend and it’s not a spinning reel thang, it’s a Metanium and Bantam thang.

Try TackleWarehouse they have them. In fact, they have about anything you might need. Bass Pro Shop is a hit or miss on Owner hooks especially straight shank. (Brick & Mortar location)
